  1. Hey ! I am accepted to the 2-year MSW at U of T as well, and I am also hopeful to make connections within the program! I don't live in the Hamilton area unfortunatly, but I am excited to connect with you when school begins!
  2. I think a lot of it has to do with having something that sets you apart. There are 800+ applicants. Im sure many of us have excellent grades, volunteer, and work experience. They probably look for something unique and different...either through your essays, maybe something a reference puts, or your area of interest within social work. I think expressing your passion through examples in your essay would be an asset. I also sometimes wonder if some don't really consider the importance and power of excellent references. These could really say a lot about you, and your clinical experience. Just some food for thought.
  3. same here @Nervousme I did not get the letter in the mail, and I am not located in Toronto
  4. I just wanted to say that getting waitlisted right out of your undergrad is incredible because these are very competitive programs. You should look at the waitlist as a huge accomplishment, and for sure apply next year because with a little experience under your belt you will have it! If you wanted an awesome program the ADMH through humber or durham college is awesome
  5. Does anyone know from personal experience, or from other members of this blog in the past, if the invited status on acorn was not congruent with their letter in the mail? I'm getting nervous to see the letter, but I got the invited on acorn
  6. I second this.. I did the Durham College ADMH program and it was incredible. It allowed me to get a job in the field, and I believe it helped me get into the MSW program as well. Its an excellent option that will allow you to learn, develop and grow towards where you want to be
  7. Yes, I have heard that U of T sends acceptances in waves, which definitely can add to the level of stress and anxiousness. I have my undergrad in Psych and women studies, I had an A- finishing my undergrad. I obtained a graduate certificate in addictions and mental health counselling, after being rejected from U Ottawa M.Ed Counselling Psych program (GPA was 4.8) I had a 4 month internship through that program, and have been working as an Addictions and Mental Health Counsellor for a year and a half. I don't have any volunteer experience which really worried me. But I feel that my references were strong, as well as my statement.
  8. Hey Karisma! I agree, this is a great idea. I would love to get to meet some new wonderful people , and make the best of our time as MSW's
  9. hey ! yes it was about an hour ago!! I am very excited, thank you. Keep staying positive, you've got this !
  10. Congrats to everyone getting their acceptances for the 2 year MSW at U of T! I just got Invited, so I wanted to say that I am looking forward to hopefully having our paths cross in the coming months
  11. Hey guys, I applied to the 2 year MSW at U of T, and I am anxiously waiting as many of us are, to here a response. The suspense is killing me... does anyone know when they will start sending out acceptances?
