Got rejected from Wisconsin too.
Is there a real drop off in education from tier 1 schools to tier 2?
The conventional wisdom is that ranking doesn't matter for hiring, so long as the school is ALA accredited.

For those of you who applied to Rutgers, how long did it take to hear back?

I'm also a lawyer in New Jersey. Are you working as a law librarian?
Not yet! I am clerking. But that is my dream job. I'm presently applying to MLIS programs.

Greetings! Applying for fall 2020. What outside (i.e. not institutional) scholarships are you folks applying to? I really don't want to take out loans and hope to go as cheaply as possible.

Anyone applying to USC?

Applying to Rutgers.

I excelled academically in undergraduate (magna cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa, etc.) but completely floundered in my JD program-sub-3.0 GPA, ~35th %ile of the class, no Latin honors, etc. I also took medical leave, so there are a bunch of withdrawals on my transcript. Will this be a serious red flag? I'm concerned that admissions offices will see my law school performance and question whether I am truly intellectually capable of successfully completing graduate-level work..

It was my backup choice, but I got into UCIC, so I'm saving myself the $95. They have a really interesting faculty though. What specialization were you thinking of entering?
Congrats! I'm 100% set on law librarianship.

Hope to submit by end of the month!

I think I've made my decision, going to UWash online! I just decided at the end of the day I'm going to school to learn so I should pick the program in my budget with the most classes I'm interested in.
Congrats! I wish their Law LIbrarian program was offered online, but alas.

Where is everyone applying? I'm doing UMich, Rutgers and Chapel Hill in the US, maybe Queens College if the first three don't pan out. I'm also applying to some programs in the UK as well. I'm applying from abroad so I'm super nervous about the process. Also anyone else petrified of the GRE? Taking it Thursday and the math is definitely freaking me out.
Did you end up getting into Rutgers?

Greetings! In admissions decisions for candidates who have already completed another graduate program (in my case, a J.D.), which GPA would be weighted more heavily-undergrad or grad?
Are any other admits getting "cold feet" about starting an MLIS program in the fall?

The remote learning aspect isn't a problem for me (100% online was an option even pre-pandemic) but my concerns are: 1) scholarships/funding might dry up, and 2) the recession and difficulty in finding a job for during the program or postgrad. Is it wise to defer?
