I'm not sure about the Brown school specifically, but I went to WUSTL for undergrad and my experience with their financial aid office was amazing - they really try to work with you, so I would definitely encourage you to try to appeal if you need to! Of course, grad school anywhere will be less financial aid available than undergrad in general, but WashU is known to be good with finaid, so it doesn't hurt to try!
