  1. Anyone here got an acceptance to the 2 yr msw program at Western? I have been seeing a lot of waitlists/rejections on this forum but no acceptances
  2. Yess i agree i have to keep reminding myself that worrying is no help. It will just ruin my weekend that is supposed to be relaxing!
  3. Hmm i think it also depends on how much info the enrollment advisor you have been in contact with from the start (for those who have been in contact with one) gives out. I think someone on this forum said that they were told that over 140 people applied, but when i asked my enrollment advisor, she said she could not give out that info.
  4. Hey don't worry you will get there! Most importantly, don't be too hard on yourself. You mentioned that you were a victim of domestic violence. I would use that to help get you a volunteer position at a women's abused shelter, violence against women association, something along those lines. When you apply, you will easily be able to express your interest in working for those agencies due to your experiences (you don't have to mention your experiences of course if you are not comfortable). There are a ton of abused women shelters and hotlines looking for volunteers. The good thing about these agencies is that they usually offer you a part-time position if you have volunteered there for a while and if an opening comes up. I agree - it is hard to get a paid position with no experience (even for those with social work or related degrees lol), but it is little easier to get volunteer positions with no academic background in social work. A lot of social services agencies do not necessarily only take on volunteers with a social work background. They take on people who have a deep interest and desire to work with and help the community they are serving. My friend graduated from poli sci at ryerson and started volunteering at a shelter for abused women and it eventually led to a casual position. She is a huge violence against women advocate - and this shined through in her CV and interview. Yes I know working for free sucks haha but you will learn so many skills, meet so many people and build valuable experiences that will help you get to where you want to be. It will also allow you to build your social work network. Just don't give up, once you start volunteering , you will see how much you have built your resume and thats an amazing accomplishment!
  5. Hey when you say that no one with a stats mark under a B got in, do you mean research methods? Because I remember the website saying that you must have at least a mid b in research methods, nothing about statistics.
  6. What is your average/experience like if you don't mind me asking?
  7. Hey is this for the 2 year online program part time? Also who did you speak to? Were they just calling to give you a heads up? sorry for all the questions lol i am just really interested in this program
  8. I spoke to someone yesterday and was told this is true. They will be offering eligible people sept spots if there is no room for may. They didnt specify how many people they will send off to sept but they will call and confirm with you first if you are okay with it
  9. On a few pages back, someone posted about how Laurier's Online MSW (starting in May) might offer people Sept start dates if the program fills up. Has anyone else heard this? and who do you usually speak to when you call to inquire about the online application?
  10. How many hours of post grad experience do you have? My friend is in the MSWWP program and she for sureeee did not have the required amount of hours they ask for - idk how she got in lol
  11. No but apparently they are supposed to. I called Windsor to find out and the lady told me that it just said "due to high competition of the program and limited space, we are unable to offer admission at this time" she said its pretty broad/general and if there was another reason it would say. She transferred me to Erika who would have more info so i left her a voicemail - waiting on a call back from her.
  12. Yeah i found that interesting too! what is your avg/experience like? and did you get accepted to any other schools u applied to
  13. Nothing is the is "MSW" supposed to be written there under degree registration or it supposed to be blank until we get an offer an it says "MSW - invited".
  14. Honestly! It really makes me wonder what they look for cause i seriously thought i would get into windsor but got rejected - plus they take in more students...western only takes 15!
  15. Your experience still sounds pretty good! My average is what I am worried about (78%) I am currently working as a caseworker working with the homeless population which i started in Jan (was still able to put this on my experience form) had three 8-month practicums during my undergrad. and volunteered at the court for 8 months after graduation, have been volunteering at a youth centre (been a little over a year) also have a part-time job working with children since aug 2017
  16. Anyone here with a 78% avg who has gotten accepted to any 2 yr msw program? These averages are freaking me out. I feel like everyone who has gotten accepted has such a high average!!
  17. For those of you who applied to lauriers 2 year on campus and online program, whats your average and experience like, if you dont mind sharing? (:
  18. Lol the only one i got a somewhat decent response from so far. Rejected from windsor..still waiting on laurier and uoft
  19. Sooo If anyone received an offer from western’s 2 year msw program and is not planning going there, please decline asap (: lol sincerly an anxious waitlister
  20. Yeah i know what you mean. I feel like since the program is so new, the admissions team is trying to figure everything out themselves leaving us with different answers everyday lol
  21. Hi there which stream did u apply for 1 yr or 2 yrs?
  22. When i spoke to someone regarding the 2 yr online msw program (around mar 20) they told me that they were originally doing rolling admissions but had to change it due to the high volume of applicants they received. So applications for a start date of may 2018 were due on mar 23rd and they said it should take a month to reach decisions. I didnt know about them possibly offering sept 2018 start dates for those who didnt make the may cut off
  23. For kings or laurier? I know for kinds they accept 15-20 applicants. Just wondering how many apply
