  1. That is a valid concern.I was told i could be offered a seat for January, even though i have applied for September. I wonder how many of the 80 spots are going to be offered to applicants from the May intake. I would be happy either way, but this may delay offers.
  2. That is disappointing. I was expecting mid June at the latest, as that is what she told me 2 days ago?
  3. I agree, notice would be nice. I am anticipating on sometime in June. Once people accept or decline they will be going down the wait lists and offering spots. I think you will have notice considering the cut off is in a couple weeks. You will probably have 4/5 months notice. May start only had a couple weeks/month and September will be around 2 months notice(depending).
  4. What did she say? She told me begining to mid June. The waiting is the worst. I hope we find out soon. Good luck!
  5. I answered mine in essay format. You have the option of essay format or answering them separately. It is more difficult to write an essay that flows, while answering the questions. I tried to connect everything best i could. The feedback i recieved from people editing my essay was answering the questions would be too informal. It's entirely up to you and what you feel is best. I also would have put headers above every question, which would have taken up too many words. I just made it under 1000.
  6. Has anyone heard back from Laurier for September online?
  7. Your average is based on your last full 5 credits (i think last 10 courses) of your degree. As for references i would ask an advisor about this. I had 3 professional references as i have been out of University for 8 years and un thr work force. They may accept that, but i would recommend asking before you apply so you don't waste your time. Good luck!!!
  8. Thanks for clarifying this. My degree was 120 credits.when broken down to 25% it's the last 10 courses. I self-declared my GPA to be way lower that it actually is. I thought it was based on my last 5 courses. I hope they catch that or i might have ruined my chances ?
  9. I am not sure. I live in BC so i am not sure if it is the same. Each course i have completed is 3 credits. My understanding is it's my last 5 courses. I could have misunderstood and it is the last 10. I am not sure how it will be done. I also completed 3 classes my last semester and 4 the second to last. I don't know how they would pick 2 from the second to last semester. If they pick the better 2 i will have an 80 average. If they pick the lower 2 i will have a 74 average. I overall had some decent grades in the last 2 years. Unfortunately, my 2 low grades are in upper level stats which half the class actually failed. I finished with a c+ and b-. My worst grades. I hope they pick the higher ones ?. I was told they only go by your last 5 classes so you will be fine! If you have an 80 + You have a good chance. I also went to school right out of highschool and messed my GPA. It happens. I'm sure they understand. I know someone who just got into med school with a score of 40/100 on grades. He was young when he did his science courses and didn't have the best grades when he was young. I don't think they put too much emphasis on grades from 10/20 years ago. I would think its more about work experieince, intent letter and references. Having good grades is important but not the only factor.
  10. Sometime in June. Sooooo nervous. I have alot of expereince (8 years) working in Mental Health and a degee in Psychology. My grades are average which will be my one downfall. Fingers crossed. I hope all the other positives make up for it. If not i will have to take a few classes online to boost my GPA and apply again.
  11. I would say human experience would be anything where you are working with people and providing assistance/support. Nursing is very relevant. You work along side social workers in a multidisciplinary team. I would list all your employent within the nursing feild. I also am a mother and don't have any volunteer hours. I am waiting to hear back for September intake. I would really focus your application around your work experience and relationship building with patients/clients in the context you are working in. If you work in a hospital ypu are very aware of the job duties and support a social worker provides. Nurses do informal counselling and support clients in many ways.
  12. Oh thats good there is a date listed so you know how much time you have to prepare. That is a short window for applying, as September intake just closed at the end of April. That is only 2 months for people to apply. Hopefully, that means there are less applicants for that intake. Good luck!! It's alot of pressure doing your application. You will feel relieved once you have it submitted
  13. They didn't give a deadline for September either. They just posted that it was closed one day. I applied for September intake (online/part-time) and offers will not be going out until June sometime. As it is a new program, there are no concrete deadlines yet. I think they are still figuring things out.
  14. I just recieved an e-mail from Dilyara, confirming offers will be sent begining to mid June.??we will know soon. Kind of nervous. I will either be crushed or happy! And that will be happening soon. I have no back up school so im really hoping this works out.
  15. That is better odds than the big Universities where it is 1 in 8 are accepted. I was told they will be sending out offers in June. Did you hear that as well? Good luck!
  16. That is so amazing! Are you accepted for online or on campus? I have read on here that this has happened to others. Did you have a really high GPA? I'm wondering how they are awarding this.
  17. I applied to September intake at Laurier and waiting to hear back. I read on this site that someone was accepted with a b average with a ton of experience. If you write a good intent letter and have over 5000 hours of work experience you will have a chance. I am in the same boat as you. I have a B/B+ average (depending on how they calculate it), i have worked in Mental Health and Addiction for 8 years, and have experience working with woman/children fleeing domestic violence. My degree is in Psychology and i completed 4 stats courses. I will let you know if i am accepted or not. Fingers crossed!
  18. Has anyone recieved an admissions offer for Wilfred Laurier, September intake (online/part-time)? They have closed applications for that term. One thing i noticed on my loris account is recently, student aid/funding has been added to my account. It wasn't there when i first applied. Has this happend to anyone else? I was told by undergrad admissions that it likely means a offer is coming, although they were unsure in my case because grad admissions is seperate.
  19. That must have been so frustrating. I am preparing for the same.
  20. Applied to MSW (online/part-time) at Wilfred Laurier, for September. I see from reading previous posts that admissions was very delayed for May intake. I was under the impression from my advisor that it is rolling admission and my application would be viewed by admissions within 2 weeks. Has anyone else been given similar information for September intake? There isn't even an application deadline as of yet. Im assuming now that they have completed offers for May (online) and September( on campus) that things won't be as delayed.
