My dear friends from all around the world,

I have been reading your comments for 15 days, due to the delay in the response from the DAAD. Finally, I got today an e-mail from Bonn and confirmed to me what I expected: I won the scholarship for my 3-years doctoral studies. My status did not change at any time. The communication was directly from the administration in Bonn. I think that the description of the status does not affect in any sense the final decision of the DAAD. Lots of successes for all who are waiting for the response. Greetings from South America.

    Congratulations Gustavo  ?

If you don't mind, can you share your DAAD experience? - how was the interview and how long it takes to know the result (from your deadline till the announcement)?

    Thank you.

I applied for one year grant but daad also but themselves added me to short term grant, and they then rejected the short term grant. but my application for one year grant remains the pending.  hope you this makes it clear.   and yes when they sent me the rejection notification for the short term grant the status was still selection made.

Thank you for your clarification. My mistake then as I thought maybe you have applied for two different research grants.  This is my first time I heard that the DAAD can amend/add the research grant despite of what we have had applied. Anyhow, hope we will be blessed by the DAAD lucks.

I applied for the one year research grant and daad also put me up for the short term grant and then rejected me for the short term grant.  this really confused me as i thought they rejected me for what i applied for!!!  My status for the one year grant remains selection made and they changed my dates to 1.10.2019.

what an emotional roller coaster. Already losing weight over this!! ahahaha!

    Hi Wily.m,

Many apologies for asking this and if you don't mind to answer.

Did you receive a rejection letter from DAAD upon short term research grant? Because if you receive a rejection letter whereas in portal remains 'selection made' , its a bit confusing.

I just received an answer from the DAAD office in Argentina and they told me that it is better to wait for the official mail from the office at Bonn. And they also told me that is better not to follow the status in the application platform...

    So... We need to wait...

thank you for sharing an update.

    Hey, Ilyana.

you applied for master in arts in music field? I applied back in October as well, but no response yet.

    Hi MarceloCoelho,

I applied for a Bi-Nationally Doctoral Supervised in engineering education field.

Usually they will email us and giving the updates. Maybe you can contact your DAAD representative (via email or phone call) to know your current status. My experience, they are very responsive and I usually received a reply within a day.

    Hope this information helps.

    Thank you.

    Hi Ilyana,

I received an email saying that the committee recommended me for a scholarship and that I had to reply back stating either "I will accept the scholarship" or "I will not accept the scholarship".

I did that though my status never changed, it still says application submitted, and I didn't receive a reply back after saying that I do accept the scholarship. Which is making me quite anxious to be honest.

For the info I applied back in August 2018 and had my interview on the 25th October 2018 (Bi-nationally supervised PhD grant)

    Hi Almasa,

Thank you for your reply and congratulations in advance. Surely you will get the DAAD research grant.

It's a bit different as I applied back in October 2018 (deadline-15th October 2018) and mine, is based on submitted document.

Anyhow, hope both of us (and all of us) will be granted with the DAAD research grants.

    xoxo

    Hi everyone,

I am from Namibia and I have applied for Research grant Doctoral program. I have received a notification that I am awarded the scholarship and due to receive my award later soon.

I am also asked to inform DAAD if am I willing to take the scholarship or have gotten another. They indicated that they need this for them to give offers to the candidates on reserve list.

Keep your fingers crossed guys, your offers are on the way. Good luck to all of you.

    Congratulations!!!!  ?

They told me the meeting will take place in March and the results could be announced in April.

It differs according to different type of research grants. That's what they said.  We cannot assume that one single meeting for all application since they have various type of research grants.

Selection Made simply means a decision has been made on the application. At this point, the next change in my portal could be either Funding or Application Rejected. Selection Made, unfortunately, has nothing to do with how successful an application is. It is just DAAD telling you a decision has been made concerning the scholarship you applied for.

    Hope this helps

Thank you for your reply and information.

That's true. I am already in Germany. In December I got a message from DAAD if I will like to attend an interview in my home country or remain here in Germany. I, of course, told them I have already started my studies so I will be staying. After that, I received a confirmation letter via the portal that my application will be considered at the beginning of February. Just some few minutes ago my status changed from Application submitted to Selection Made. My point is, I think DAAD deals with every region differently.

    Hi Gyedu,

Thank you for sharing your update.

May I know what it means by the Selection Made? Does it mean the application is successful?

    Thank you.

Hi Gyedu, thanks for your reply. I am applying from Malaysia. Just a bit worry because there is no update about the interview yet.

    Good Luck!

    Hi Xeviroth,

I received an email saying that the meeting will be held this month. Are you applying for Bi-Nationally Doctoral supervised too? Mine is Bi-Nationally Doctoral Supervised.

    Hi, Ilyana,

Are you already in Germany? If not, which country are you applying from or perhaps where is your home country?

    Hi Gyedu,

Sorry for late reply. I applied it from Malaysia. Are you applying for Bi-Nationally Doctoral Supervised research grant as well?

I am applying for DAAD - Doctoral Programmes in Germany 2019/2020 (deadline on 15th October 2018). I think you did apply to 2019/2020 as well. We are pretty much on a similar doctoral track then! Only you are applying for the sandwich programme but I am for the full programme.

    Hi Farhan and Almasa,

Thank you for the reply and many apologies for late response. I got the email saying that the meeting will be held this month. Pray hard work harder.

Hi, everyone. Anyone applying for the DAAD Research Grant for Ph.D. I applied last year without any luck so I'm trying my luck this year, again. Three weeks ago I got an email from the DAAD portal asking for my whereabouts in the months of January and February. I have already started my Ph.D. in Germany so of course, I told him I will be in Germany. He then told me that if I will be in my home country (Ghana) there will be an organized interview for all applicants. Since I told him I will be in Germany during the period I was informed then that my application will be decided based on the submitted documents in Bonn and no interview is required.

When I applied last year from Ghana, there was no such message or interview. Anyone also in this situation?

Same goes to me. I got an email saying that the application will be selected based on the submitted document. The meeting will be held this month and hopefully, we will be blessed with the DAAD fundings. Mine is Bi-Nationally Supervised Doctoral Degree.
