  1. I can't help with GRE scores, but I was scheduled an interview for a week after I submitted my complete application. And then it took about 6 weeks after my interview to hear a decision.
  2. I have done none of the pre reqs, and will be taking them all through the online master's program I will be attending. Just seemed more straightforward this way, and I know the classes will meet their requirements.
  3. I have my interview for Speech@Emerson tomorrow...just wondering if people found that the questions were more traditional interview questions ("What are your strengths and weaknesses", "Where do you see yourself in 5 years", etc) or more specific/random? I didn't have to interview for undergrad or my previous grad degree, so not sure what to expect! Thanks!
  4. Jumping into this post to say this is so helpful! I am hoping to start this program in Sept, and I also plan to do my pre reqs there. Can I ask how many hours per week would you say the classes take up--is there a lot of coursework to be done in the leadup to the interactive class? And has it been easy to interact with students during actual class time even though you are all doing it over the computer? Thank you!
  5. Hi all, I'm interested in applying for the NYU or Emerson distance learning programs as a part-time student. However, looking at the part time schedule, it seems insane! Full time is 4 classes, part time is still 3 classes. It's barely less work. I need part time for flexibility, as I have a family and a spouse that works full time and is taking online classes himself. Has anyone done either of these programs part time and can comment on how manageable the workload is? I am especially worried about semesters with clinical practicum, as Emerson said you need to be prepared to work 3-5 days full time hours, in addition to 2-3 other classes.
  6. Hi all, I spoke to someone at Emerson's distance program yesterday. She said that for part-time students, they take 2-3 classes per semester, and every other semester, there is a 3-5 day a week clinical placement on top of that. Is anyone in the program, and can you comment on the workload? That doesn't sound very part time to me, especially taking classes on top of a clinical placement...?
  7. Thank you so much! I appreciate this. NYU is one I am looking at, as well as Emerson. I suppose if I talk to those specific schools first, I might get a better idea of how the post bacc requirements fit in.
  8. Hi all, I am interested in applying for an online SLP program. I've been browsing this site and there is so much helpful info from other people who have posted and answered before. My specific situation is that I am 33, have 3 kids, and have a B.A. in psychology and Masters degree in Mental Health Counseling. As I am pretty busy in my normal life, I'd ideally be able to do an online program that I can kind of work around my schedule. I have some questions: 1) I don't have any of the foundation courses required. Do you think the best thing to do would be go for a post bacc before applying for an SLP graduate program? If so, do you think it matters where I do the post bacc classes (i.e. is it ok to go for the least expensive or does name matter at all)? And finally, does anyone know of a good post-bacc program that requires minimum in person attendance? I was looking at the program at University of Colorado at Boulder. I could potentially do a program located in the Northeast if it was like one or two weekends. 2) Or is it better to just go right for the SLP grad program and do the foundational courses as part of the program? I do think that could add significant time on to it though. 2) Does anyone have experience applying to any of these programs after being out of school for a significant amount of time? I graduated from grad school in 2009 and haven't kept in touch with any professors; how do people handle letters of recommendation? Are letters from previous employers sufficient? Thank you so much!!
