UNC-Chapel Hill Art and Art History Department "Due to the extraordinary circumstances created by the pandemic, we are not accepting MFA students for the 2021-2022 school year" Northwestern University MFA in Art, Theory and Practice "As of December 7, the Northwestern University Art, Theory and Practice Department is currently pausing the application process while options are evaluated regarding the Fall 2021 cohort and larger program needs. An update as to whether the application process will re-open will be shared no later than Tuesday, December 15, 2020, and will be announced on the Applications webpage."

Stanford University's Art Practice MFA program has decided not to admit new master’s students for study beginning Autumn 2021, and the graduate application has been closed.

Sorry to hear about the rejections, cannot believe how U. of Colorado is taking so long to answer! Your 11.5K stipend and full scholarsh ip at UMass-Amherst is one of the best funding packages I have heard of! Congrats that is quite an achievement!!

Apologies for the question but how do you defer an offer? My letters of acceptance give two options "Yes, I accept" "No, I do not accept." Who do you talk to? or should I get a written agreement? And how to ask about deferring until Spring? Will I lose scholarships/TA deferring an offer? Also, please if anyone goes to Herron (IUPUI) talk to me, I really need advice before I let go.

Got accepted to Herron School of Art (IUPUI) today (full funding + scholarship). Don't know what to do now, I had it all figured out before.

Loved this, till I got to where it talks about not being able to accept the "guy who actually got in during a previous cycle but postponed". I did not know that that was a possibility for applicants who chose "deferred entrance."

artperson, did you hear from Colorado or Maryland?

Yes, yes, and yes. Lots of programs offer this kind of stipends (some only offer a thousand per semester). Have you seen comments on the Results board? Lots of people commenting on how fully funded places are not fully funded anymore. The comments were about how most programs make no mention of these changes on their websites. Students find out when receiving their financial package and discover that they were given only 55%-75% coverage or less. For instance, some do not offer first year funding and then students must compete for aid for their second/third years. It is alarming how much funding has gone down for MFA programs in general.

This is such helpful information, Jess. I also wondered about that with Tyler, they seem to be undergoing a lot of changes, and funding is not the best. I did not apply, but I think your info will be helpful for current and future applicants.

Two acceptances (one on another field), and waiting to hear results from two more programs. Happy about choices, and debating possibilities. Hard to decide!

I am puzzled. Might it be that they gave me the update because on Feb. 20 I inquired via email, and mentioned my scholarship time frame? That sounds too far fetch, but I don't know what to think. Anyone else got a response from Tulane? All I know is that they sent me a March 6 email to check GradStatus update, and the portal link showed a pdf letter of rejection. I say do not panic. They said that the committee was meeting at the end of Feb/beginning of March so it is too soon for you all to worry. Tulane is one of the places that has tons of applicants (funding is amazing). It is a small place and they seem to do things in a more relaxed way. I love the faculty artwork and I was very hopeful, but I am glad to know.

No news is good news. Remember that I applied for painting. All I know is that they started reviewing applications not too long ago so I am pretty certain that there is plenty more to come, be it invites to interview or waitlist notifications, etc. Nobody else in the forum reported news from Tulane, especially in your field, so that is awesome news for you. You could email the director of your department, or just wait a week or so, news are bound to come soon. Keep the faith, if you have not received a rejection, you are still very much in the game!

Double Whammy!!!!!!!!!!!!! Rejected from Stanford and Tulane within the same 5 minutes. What are we to do? Hopefully March 7 will bring better news.

TULANE REJECTION 8 minutes ago via email directing me to check their Portal. I gather that they might be sending rejections, and interview invites at the same time? Hope so. I am rooting for you, Taylor, and all of you who requested admission. Best of luck to you!
