  1. once again here I am, now torn between another school! So recently I was torn between MGH and UW MedSLP as seen in previous post. However, I am here this weekend in Seattle and LOVE the program. I immediately knew I was going to withdrew from MGH, since it was half the cost and offered a little bit more theoretical aspects. I loved the other accepted students I met! BUT JUST MY LUCK! As I landed in Seattle, I checked my email and was accepted off the waitlist at Rush University in Chicago which was originally my number one school! I plan on meeting with some faculty and doing a tour next week before deadline, but was curious if anyone who had gone to their accepted students day/open house could tell me what they thought about the presentation, facility, and other accepted/current students? it would be super helpful! THANK YOU GUYS!!!! p.s. I am obsessed with dysphagia and really hope to find a program with FEES/LSVT/MBSS experience
  2. I have been so fortunate enough to be accepted into my top two schools UW MedSLP and MGHIHP. I definitley want to go medical slp but really focus and specialize on dysphagia (the dream is to become BCS-S). I am struggling choosing which program because of the price and what they offer. MGH has a professor who is a principle investigator for several ongoing dysphagia research projects and offers classes like "Alaryngeal Speech" and "Trach/Ventilation". However for two years, the price is looking like 100,000 (50,000/year). I am originally from CT but moved to CO so it would be nice to be a little bit closer to home. I also have several friends both major related (already in boston for second year SLP grad school at Northeastern) and non-major friends just who are moving out there. UW MedSLP is an amazing program that gives you a specialized curriculum with a full time internship in your last semester, but there seems to be no professors who specialize in dysphagia and have any labs going on. Compared to MGH, there are less electives but the price is 30,000/year! Which is much cheaper. I am definitley torn and would appreicate any feedback from any students who are maybe already in either one of these programs and know maybe a little bit more? I am so torn and really don't know what to do.
  3. So I recently got invited to MGH IHP open house for speech pathology! I know for other schools and interviews I had to dress very businesslike, but what do people typically wear to open houses/admitted students day? Because jeans would be ??
  4. Thank you! And Cincinnati had an early application due in December for speech Kentucky and New York medical college are some of my backups and I just got an invite to New York medical college so fingers crossed ??
  5. Hello! Like alot of people this time of the year, I am super stressed out about getting accepted into a graduate program for SLP. I want to be a medical SLP so my programs were very limited. I looked at schools that had Hospitals on their campus/ connected to or programs with unique course. Here are the schools: University Washington MedSLP (the dream haha) MGH IHP, Boston Rush University CU Boulder (I am an undergrad here now) University of Kentucky New York Medical College Columbia, Teachers College University of Florida, Gainseville University of Georgia Louisiana State University, New Orleans My GPA is a 3.76 but my GREs are Q: 149, V: 149 W: 4.5. I had a professor tell me there is a 90% chance I won't get in to any of these programs. I have both research and clinical experience with a lot of observation hours; and volunteering work. I just finished my SLPA program this fall. To past applicants, do I have a shot at these programs or should I add some less competitive programs? Please help a girl out cause I am a hot mess rn.
