Has anyone heard from RISD, MICA, Rutgers, Tulane, or SVA yet? Those are the ones I’m still waiting on. I’m pretty sure SAIC and VCU are rejections for me at this point since people have been posting about interviews, but I haven’t seen many people post about the rest.

Yeah I had one due feb 1 and in other extend their deadline to feb 1

I studied graphic design at BU for undergrad so if you want any info on the school I’d be happy to help! I loved it there and they have a bunch of new studios now!

Actually being fresh out of undergrad might be a reason why you didn’t get in. At the open house they mentioned a bunch of times that they didn’t want people right out of school. They said they wanted you to have work experience. They also said they didn’t really want school projects in the portfolio because they can tell when projects were done for a class. So ur portfolio might be amazing and really strong but being out of undergrad could have been a negative. They did say there are exceptions to the rule, but generally they didn’t want right out of undergrad. So I wouldn’t criticized if portfolio too much for it. I also didn’t get an interview and I have work experience, so I have no excuses lol.

I don’t think all schools do interviews. I got accepted to SCAD a few weeks ago without ever interviewing, so could be the same for Madison.

the two of us and I think I saw maybe like 2 other people in this thread say they were applying for graphic design, there are prob a few others I didn’t notice.

Def just some schools. I had 2 apps that weren’t even due till feb 1 so I’m not expecting to hear from them yet. If u look at last years forum the interviews basically start in early feb so we are at the very beginning. But I do feel your pain I’m stressing.

I had one interview so far, it was Skype and they didn’t ask to see any work. It was pretty conversational they gave me a rundown of the program and mostly asked me about my experience and the types of projects I have worked on. Then asked what drew me to their program in particular.

No word from VCU yet, but I applied for graphic design. I went down for the open house and they said they only take 5 or 6 designers, so we have some stiff competition. Eee good luck everyone! This waiting game is rough!

Does anyone know how funding works. Do we find out if we were offered any money when we get the acceptance letter or does that come later?

I applied for a graphic design mfa too. I applied to 10 schools. Was only going to apply to 4 then realized how small the programs were and how low the acceptance rates were so I panicked and applied to a bunch. So far I’v only heard from 2 schools. I got accepted to SCAD via email earlier this week!! Was so excited and surprised to hear so early! I interviewed at Temple, Tyler last week via Skype. Still waiting to hear from saic, sva, mica, Yale, risdi, vcu, Rutgers, and Tulane. It’s really cool that your looking at other countries. I really wanted to do my mfa in Europe, but had a hard time finding US accredited programs in Europe. Ended up applying to all US schools but a few have study abroad or summer programs in other countries.
