St. Louis University - Biology PhD

Well it sounds like you assumed you were admitted and then found out that you were waitlisted, which is actually quite different from being admittedand then waitlisted....

Last Monday I got an email from my potential advisor (who I have been in great contact with throughout applying to the school) saying that he had just talked with the head of the gradcom. and I "will be accepted"...It's now over a week and a half later and I have heard nothing from the school or the gradcom. According to pot. advisor, I'm waitlisted for funding. So mabe they are waiting to offer me admission until they find out more about funding? I guess I just want something official saying I got in (top choice). Am I being silly thinking that there's something sinister about not having heard from the school? I just don't want to put all my eggs in that basket if down the line I might get a "oops, guess they changed their mind" email.

bumping this up as it looks like I will probably be attending SLU in the fall...anyone know much about the school? where I should live? etc.

I recieved an acceptance yesterday (waitlisted for funding so still more waiting to do ) and still haven't heard from my remaining 4 schools (Did an interview with one last week). Like Minnesotan said, if you haven't seen the rejection, keep hope alive.

Unfortunately I'm a bio student and there are very few if any students who are posting about decisions in my programs this year or in the past. So last year's results won't say much. You're probably right though, I mean if it was a definite no, surely they would have let me know that by now. Or at least that's how I plan on staying sane for the next few weeks...

I was feeling really good about a school that I had an interview at until this morning when one of the girls I met at the interview emailed to tell me she had been accepted. So there's implied rejection #2 (since it's been 2 months since one of my school's deadlines and no word). The other three schools should let me know in the next week or 2..but right now my confidence is shot. What an ego crushing experience this all is.

I applied to SLU as well and had a similar question (I'm pagan and wasn't sure how that might go over) but I talked to a friend who went to Catholic for law school and he said it was even less of an issue than when we did our undergrad at an institution which recently severed it's official ties to the baptist community. What program did you apply to?

Turns out they aren't going to make any acceptance decisions until after the weekend...so I don't know if I'm in or not, but I'm going to choose to see it as positive that they've invited me down... Although all this waiting is indeed driving me bonkers.

I need help with deciphering too. My potential advisor emailed me and asked me to re-request one of my letters of rec. from the professor doing it. I did so and the professor submitted the rec. The next day the acedemic assistant working with the graduate committee emailed, said they had reviewed my app and invited me to their graduate recruitment weekend, but I have still not heard anything about acceptance. I don't want to get ahead of myself but don't see why they would pay for me to visit if they didn't want me to attend their school... Am I assuming too much? would it be wrong to email back and ask if she knows when I might hear about admissions? (Ga. Tech has rolling admissions so there really isn't a timeline)
