  1. I have a question /concern. I’m female. Is it odd to refuse a male classmate to be my roommate? I would like only female roommates but a male classmate who I have yet to know asked to be a roommate...Is it harsh to say NO because he is a guy?

I've heard discover can be quite good. I've also heard that you should check with your local bank or credit union to see if they have individual loans at lower rates. I personally got one private loan through Sallie Mae and then the other loans I had were graduate federal loans when I applied for FAFSA.

I know very little about getting school loans. All I know is that my education will have a “nice” price. Thank you, I really appreciate your input! I wanted to check discovery. I don’t want my credit score to go down if discover looks at my credit.

  3. Hi,

I wanted to ask how people are funding for grad school. I have a GA position however, I will be dependent on Loans. I am eligible for grad PLUS loan but interest rate is like 7%,which is high.

Is this what I would expect average rate to be if I look for private loans?

any suggestions for private loans? Aside from Sally Mae?

I think classes are 3 days (Mon, Tue, Wed) the first semester, and then 2 days a week the second semester.

Also, if anyone has questions about the area, I moved up 2 years ago and live in Beaverton but worked in downtown Portland

Yes! Where is the best area to live in? I don’t want to live in Portland because of traffic. What is the best way to look for housing ( online, specific website, advertisements)?

I would like to be in a smoke free house hold. Do many people rent out rooms? I’d rather have an apartment and rent with other students.

  5. I am going beginning of August to look for housing. I am hoping to have a room mate to reduce the costs and make friends ! I’m from SD. I too am going to NYC with my boyfriend for vacation . I’m gonna miss him so much!:(

I plan to bring my car just in case. I wonder if I have to register my car to get Oregon license plate..?

  6. Just got an email for waitlist....I didn’t even get an interview? What?

I have to accept another program in the mean time while I wait. This is terrible :( not knowing whether I’ll get in or not.

My email did not say rank only stated if I want to stay on waitlist.

I'm not sure exactly what you mean by practicals. Is that the same as clinic? We get graded normally for class (A, B, etc). For clinic we have a final grade where different components get a 1-4 rating, with a 3 being "meets expectations". We also do a mid-semester evaluation where we come up with personal goals.

I actually feel fine being observed, although I was nervous the first time I had parents and students observe. The way I look at it, I'm already being "observed" by my client, and my supervisors have been really nice and understanding, so I feel fine with them observing me. I think it really helps having a separate observation room--even though I know people are watching I can put it out of my mind. I think you'll adjust to it after the first couple sessions. I won't lie, the first few are rough, but you'll make it!

Yes, the clinical aspect. Thank you for sharing. My friend is in PT school and told me about her “clinic” grading. Apparently, the professor role plays and gives hypothetical questions one on one and the students have to do well to be competent. She made it sound intense.

For grad Students: how in depth does your neuroanatomy course go into studying nerves and muscles? Is it similar to undergrad or more detailed?

Congrats on going 3 for 4 with interviews! How was the Chapman interview? Mine is tomorrow :)

My Chapman interview was last year. I haven’t received anything so far for this year. Last year I heard back around this time. The Chapman interview is casual one on one. They should have emailed you some questions to prepare for the interview. They are your basic grad question. Why SLP? What skills do you bring? Strength? Weakness? The facility is fairly new and professional ?! I wish you luck!

    Hey SoCal applicants!

Just curious, given how competitive SoCal is:

    1.  how many schools did you apply to?
    2.  if you're from SoCal, did you apply to any out of state schools? Would you prefer to stay in state?
    3. if you're not from SoCal, what made you want to attend out here?

I applied to 7 schools in SoCal because I so badly want to stay local, but also applied to two out of state to be on the safe side. The crazy thing is the out of state schools were ranked significantly better on US News, but according to EdFind, 2 or 3 times easier to get into than some of my top choice SoCal schools. Anyone in a similar situation? How did you set yourself apart?

1.Chapman, pacific university of Oregon, CBU, CSUSM, Redlands. I had 3 interviews.

I have not received official acceptance from Oregon yet. I’m getting anxious to hear back from other schools. I’m still waiting for Chapman. I had been wait listed there last year.

I love Pacific’s program but I think it would be so expensive to go out of state?!!!
