Could be that your spam filter got it. That happens to me sometimes, as I still use my university email address, which has an oversensitive filter. At any rate, congrats!!

Whelp, looks like this might be another day of refreshing my email in vain. Feeling kind of demoralized right now seeing acceptances go out for the other programs I applied to, while I have one acceptance and no guarantee of funding. Honestly the worst of it all is that I don't have enough privacy in my home to wallow...
-
Briefly forgot that you're 5 (6?) hours ahead and was a bit concerned haha
-
Currently in a nasty loop of refreshing email --> refreshing this thread --> refreshing the results page --> repeat

Thank you! I learned about Hollins from GC too, actually. I think it's definitely worth applying to since it's got the benefits of a well-respected, fully-funded program without being quite as competitive as the big names. A 10-15% acceptance rate is still intimidating, but it's a far cry from .5%!
-
Just saw the first notification for Hollins *shivers*
-
That seems like stretching the truth at best considering the fact that multiple people have received phone calls... At any rate, thanks for sharing the info!
-
It's a Facebook group. Basically another applicant posted that they'd received an acceptance (for fiction). The acceptance came via email.
-
Literally JUST saw that they started notifying via Draft. Fingers crossed for both of us!
-
Yeah, that's why I decided to apply despite the intense competition! I also appreciated that the students /and/ faculty are more diverse than the average MFA program.
-
@klgrad I'm also waiting on VT. Feeling a little less nervous about that one since it was a reach to begin with. I'd be excited just to get an interview!
-
It really depends on the school. Fully funded programs tend to take longer, double for "brand-name" ones. Some people do get lucky enough to have a top choice offer by now, which is what makes it so tough. You're right, though: not knowing by this stage isn't necessarily a bad thing.

Man, I've been handling my anxiety pretty well this season -- up until this week. I'm scared of this process dragging out until April 15th.

Me waiting for Hollins when I had expected notifications to come out last Friday.
-
I could understand feeling weird about it, but you weren't drunk when you were writing your application materials and getting LORs. My impression is that maybe you're nervous about going through a major life/career change. That's understandable, but personally, I think you've got a wonderful opportunity! Certainly take some time to consider your goals and what you'd want out of this experience, but I'd stop worrying about being drunk that night.
-
@presentperfect I'm sorry, dude. This is a tough time of year for all of us, I think :/
-
Yeahhh they said they were declining at least, but it's a rude shock since no one else on Draft had heard anything. I'm hoping that they haven't sent out all their initial offers yet, although I'd rather just know if I'm waitlisted for funding.
-
Found out someone on Draft got a funding offer from GMU weeks ago... Not a great start to the week. I guess this is what people mean when they say Draft is unhealthy.
-
I noticed that too and wondered if the servers weren't secure (after all, most university websites are stuck in the early 2000s). But we also applied during the holiday season, which may have more to do with it.
-
I appreciate that! At the very least, I've developed a better perspective on the lottery that is MFA admissions. Better to roll with the uncertainty.
-
I had to wait two days to join -- this was roughly two weeks ago, and I assume it will only get worse until March/April. I think this is high tide for the admins, since this is also high tide for application results.

[banging cutlery on table in anticipation] EDIT: Just checked the results page and realized that Hollins acceptances are highly likely to come out today. Pray for me...
