Cool! we have three schools in common! good luck....I'm pretty sure Applyweb will not change, I don't even check it.
-
How mean. They really should have sent an E-mail or something when you originally applied (UMich did this; FinAid has some residency classification updates) rather than sending an 'update' ?
-
Good luck ! Keep your chin up.

I found this article while compulsively doing all the things people do in February, if you haven't already; https://readtheworkshop.com/2016/03/14/next-year/ Lara Prescott went on to write "The Secrets We Kept," apparently the first chapter was a short-story she submitted for her apps. Really, really inspiring at this point of time.
-
Good Luck! Hang in there.
-
Isn't that great? You should hear back very soon from atleast one school. I don't even want to imagine having to wait till April.
-
I think closer to second or third week of February.
-
It is officially February, and now the clock begins to tick loudly, loudly.

I can stand behind each word in my statements 1000% in terms of things like literary influences/ writing aesthetic/ future goals/ Why I want to go there for an MFA. I just couldn't get myself to mention faculty, when I cannot know for sure whether I want to work with them. I just hope I won't get passed over for this reason alone.
-
I never felt comfortable mentioning faculty. I mean, how do we know that a famous author is going to be a good teacher, or for that matter, even know that you want to work with a particular faculty without actually working with them before?
-
Lucky for me I haven't mentioned any faculty in any of my statements (Program name is correct, thank god.!) Also, I'm getting a mini heart attack every time my E-mail dings with a gradcafe alert.?
-
Ah....somehow, I just thought of this, which made me open my personal statement, in which I found a blunder. Oh well...
-
Does anyone know how many of the 12 seats at the Michener program are for fiction?
-
Okay... Elizabeth McCracken is tweeting.
-
Amy Hempel and The Southampton Review! Excellent! Good luck with funding!
-
Congratulations!!! So, so happy for you.?
-
It's weird though. JHU had a Dec 15th deadline; same as most other schools that notify in late Feb or March. I wonder what's different this year.
-
Looks like Johns Hopkins started notifying as well. I feel like notification started too early this year, compared to '19?
-
I chose it mainly for the diverse faculty, the teaching opportunities and the location (NY vs. RI) and also, the lecturer-ship opportunity at the end of the program is super.
-
Great! I write very, very traditional fiction.
-
I wished I'd applied to Brown and Alabama. I even filled out the form but didn't submit. I thought a lot about it and chose to apply to Cornell instead.
-
I applied on December 15th! I hoped that submitting early would give me early decisions as well. BU seems to have wide variations in notification dates. Some as late as April. Good Luck! I love the program at BU.
-
I read this before applying and laughed! this advice has such clarity compared to programs that say stuff like 'I was prose to sing, lift off the page and shudder!'
-
For the schools I applied, the dates are pretty well-known (per the results boards going all the way back to '16 I should expect to hear by the third week of February). If you don't have an idea, I doubt there is anything negative associated with sending a polite query (unless they specifically request applicants to not ask)

Looks like Minnesota and Northwestern are notifying?
