Not sure if this is helpful to anyone but I have been at "recommended for assessment" for NPSIA for ages and finally reached out to Lauren to see where I was at in the process and she replied with this:
"Thanks for your email. At this time, your application has been reviewed by the admissions committee and has not been selected as part of our first round of offers. Your application is currently being held for consideration for our second round of offers, which will be distributed on a rolling basis starting at the end of this month and going out throughout the spring (and possibly into the summer). All final admission decisions will be made no later than August 31st. Unfortunately, due to the competitiveness of the program it’s difficult to provide a more exact timeline."
So if anyone is at the same stage or wants to check if they are being held for second round offers I suggest emailing.
For reference my GPA is 10.45/12, Polisci undergrad finishing this year, no relevant work experience. 

Officially just got the acceptance from NPSIA!!!

EDIT:  also I saw in some previous posts that once at your stage, it's a matter of days (usually 1-2) before you hear back

Hey everyone! I am currently under "Recommended for Assessment" - fingers crossed! Any insight into how long the process takes from there? 

Also, for those who got in, if you don't mind me asking, what was your GPA and extracurricular/work experience like? I applied for part time, 3.6 GPA in my last two years + approaching 2 years of work experience in government. From what I know, they primarily look at your GPA, so I'm hoping my stats are relatively competitive for NPSIA.

Finally moved into recommended for assessment yesterday, today in review in progress by department. LOL things are moving fast

I'm not at preliminary review, but I've been at "review in progress by dept" since January, the wait is agonizing ?

The anxiety is brutal but we're all smart and based off broader trends for the higher-ed industry, this is a particularly competitive year which is important to keep in mind to avoid being too hard on ourselves.

Hello - just joined this forum and glad to find it as I have been nervously awaiting the results alone! I have applied to NPSIA for the PhD program starting in the fall. My application status is "Review in progress by department" for now. Hope to hear good news soon for myself and for all others here as well.

Yes, I've been at "Recommended for Assessment" as of late last week. I don't think they're reviewing applications in any particular order

My status just changed yesterday  from 'preliminary review required' to 'review in progress by department'.
I finished my application in December, and I see that others that applied in January went through this step before I did. So I don't think there is any specific order and clearly they are currently reviewing everybody's application. So I think everybody needs to relax a bit! Haha

What an absolute jerk... There is probably no way of knowing who did that but it would be some sweet karmic justice if the Admissions Committee were to somehow find out who posted that. Ah well, good luck for everyone still waiting and congrats to those accepted!

Thank you so much for taking the initiative to verify this with NPSIA. My heart really sank last night reading the false information, as I have not received an offer yet. Better with today's news. Also good on NPSIA for sending out the email to everyone to mitigate our burst of anxiety.
