Awesome I rescheduled mine, so it is coming up - still debating if I should go through with it. I am not set on attending unless I received a scholarship, so I'm cold feet.

Hi Anna! I applied 10/13/19. I called the school of social work the first week of November (312) 996-7096 and spoke to Marybel (Admissions Visiting Dean). You should definitely call and ask about your application. They can provide verbal admissions decisions, so she informed I had just got accepted into the program! I received an official email 11/27/19 when they finally released decisions, and then an actual letter to submit my deposit on Dec 2, 2019. Your best bet is to call and ask for your admissions decision. I know they started reviewing applications as soon as they started getting them in September and they do not review in batches. They review as first come, first serve :/. Sending positive Vibes your way!!! Good LUCK!

Not yet!! And I applied 11/7/2019. If you want to follow the other thread " MSW FALL 2020", we will all update decisions there. Ton's of Columbia applicants on that thread, no one has heard back yet. They are not releasing decisions until Mid Jan/Feb.- 4 replies

https://cgsnet.org/april-15-resolution Congrats! And you can call and ask for an extension - they should be able to give it to you easily. And check out the site above. Scholarships from the school of social work are sent with the acceptance letter (some send it a week after). FASFA scholarships and aid get packaged in Mar/Apr. Good Luck on MSU

Congrats! What is your topic pick? Also can I ask what your stats are and scholarship amount to BC? I didn't receive any funding :(, so I am declining my spot there for sure. But I have heard they are really generous with scholarships - so I was surprised.
-
Anyone else hear back from UIC? I just got an email about starting the student field placement process. But I am still anxiously waiting on other schools before I can make a final decision!
-
Sounds like they want to interview you to possibly award you scholarships of some sort. Run with it :)! You’re a very strong candidate!
-
From previous threads - I heard hunter takes a while to respond Feb/march.
-
Congrats on being accepted into Upenn, how was the interview for the MSW program? What kind of questions did they ask.
-
I did! I’ve only heard one email communication saying they received my application and that they’re really busy and will be sending decisions out mid Feb this year. I have heard from Boston College and was accepted and have little doubt about BU. As they seem to have a 70% acceptance rate for MSW. If you got into UPenn - you’ll be fine for BU.
-
Have you head back from U chicago?? I have never had so much anxiety before, and this is the last school I am waiting on! We need a brave soul to contact admissions. Please post on here when you hear back - I applied in similar timing. Yes anyone who applied before Dec 1, should hear back between late jan - early feb.
-
I believe from last years blog - decisions started rolling out week of Jan 15.
-
Same!! What day did you apply? I submitted my 11/25
-
It’s okay - they are not releasing decisions until the new few weeks anyway! I’m counting the days down.

I completely agree!!! I actually didn't think I would get into any program because of my lack in SW experience.... Every time I would hear an acceptance decision - I was genuinely shocked! But it proves that what makes you competitive is truly unique to an individual package/application you present! So I have found those who have read/reviewed my application and SOP were able to be truly unbiased and rating me versus strangers on the internet LOL. Although it is so easy to compare when you see other candidates with a gizzillion volunteer hours and super high GPA's. All in all - DO not sweat it, I am sure you will get in. I think you as a candidate knows yourself best and if you have what they are looking for - and it seems you do
-
Congratulations! You are going to LOVE ann arbor!
-
Why are you nervous?? I think you have a great chance of getting in, you sound very competitive. MSW' programs are really not that competitive to get into. Even at the most elite schools, we still see a 50%+ acceptance rate :). I've skimmed all the threads from the last couple of years on MSW programs before I started applying and it seems like majority of people get in that put effort in the application. I saw one year a student got into UPenn with a 3.0, but hands on experience.
-
When did you apply to Uchicago? I am dying to hear back! I think that is going to be my first pick if I get in - unless I receive no scholarships.. Have you heard back form any of the other programs?
-
What schools are you waiting for??
-
Is anyone else anxiously awaiting decisions? I wish they would release decisions sooner than Feb
-
Hey! I think for those coming straight out of undergrad, sometimes it's understood you may not have a ton of experience yet, therefore GPA may be weighed a little more than someone that has been out of school for a while - but has lots of hands on experience. I think the research experience and your LOR will help you greatly in your situation. For schools that do interviews, they do provide a video option - you do not have to fly to campus. UMICH is an amazing program, I highly considered it, but living in MI is just not an option for me right now :/. Yes I agree that tons applied to Columbia. I applied as well. Although I won't be attending even if I get accepted. I think it's on everyone's dream school list and I'm sure they all wish they could go, but when you get into comparable programs at half the cost, it's hard to commit. Especially because of the low rate of return financially. I have a couple friends who went there for their MSW and LOVED it but are still drowning in the debt years later.
