  1. You never know. Also, for what it's worth I plan on turning down my UIUC offer if I get into any of the other two schools I'm interviewing at, so if you're not denied there's still hope. UIUC is also direct match so if you can persuade an advisor to fund you they can push you through. What's your sub-field?
  2. Hi I’m an undergrad at UIUC. I got the visit day interview a few days ago and it seemed like a mass mail. The admissions process this year seemed extremely convoluted according to my advisor and they extended significantly fewer invites
  3. Yeah I also heard that some training grants provide funds that can only be used to support domestic students, but I do not know how true this is. Wishing you guys the best of luck. If none of you international students have heard much back yet I would wager the admission process is slightly different as all the profiles I've read on this site have been very strong.
  4. Was your interview a phone/skype interview or in-person?
  5. Lmao nice name! Anecdotally from one of my friends who now attends he said around 60-70% but dunno if his info is accurate. Also could vary year to year
  6. I got an interview from Columbia. Interview weekend Feb 20-22, email seemed like mass email from the dept chair. I’m a domestic student. Shaking!!
  7. Did many others receive UPenn interview? I see one on results. I also see Columbia masters interview — did anyone receive one for masters leading to phd?
  8. Did everyone who got an interview to stanford get a skype/zoom interview? Have any on campus invites been sent?
  9. I literally felt the same way until today man... it was literally the first time I stopped worrying about it since the new year and I got the email. I hope the invite's coming for you
  10. Yes, it is an interview for Feb 13 to 14. However, my friend got an invite for Feb 14 to 15. They also may not be done sending invites, so hold tight. My friend received his interview email about a week ago whereas I just got it now. They were sent by the coordinator of graduate affairs. Edit: also as you mentioned above the process may be different for international students. My friend and I are both domestic students and much of the interview invite discusses travel arrangements and hotels.
  11. I had correspondence with a professor. He told me that interview days are Feb 20-21, and the committee just met Friday (1/17) to discuss who to invite for interviews. The invites will go out shortly for domestic applicants (1-2 weeks). I really hope I get one as I haven't heard anything yet and most schools I applied to have already sent out interviews...plus the research fit is perfect
  12. Stanford sent their interviews?
  13. This. Trying not to be too anxious but really praying that I hear back before the end of January (wow, that seems so far away)
  14. Oh damn. Congrats! Do you care to share a short profile about yourself?
  15. MIT's interviews went out for biological engineering..maybe? Did anyone get one?
  16. Out of curiosity, who'd you hear that from? Not that I doubt you, seems like previous years had a similar timeline. Also, do you know if Princeton does any sort of campus visits or interviews for accepted students? Congrats on Stanford btw!
  17. Oh dang. Do you know if they generally send waves of invites?
  18. Anyone hear from UCSF BMS? Seeing someone reported an interview.
  19. Lmao yea, I didn't read the title very closely and paniced. Maybe I should just unsubscribe to that email chat
  20. Hopefully we all hear back soon! Best of luck to everyone, and try not to think about it for now -- we've put our work in.
  21. Yep. Some have said "I encourage you to apply" etc etc, which is motivating, but I also understand that they could simply reply with the same email to everyone who contacted them and they wouldn't lose out on anything. I did talk to one prof over the phone which was marginally helpful even if mostly he just spoke about his own work.
