  1. I got an email yesterday from the grad Dean. I'm going forward to nationals! I hope you'll get your news soon.
  2. Wow. That must be some serious leadership roles. I got cgs-d entering my PhD, but I assume that was off of my pubs from my masters (only one as first author). Got to nationals for Vanier, but no dice. I definitely think that Trudeau is more competitive. So very few seats at each stage of the competition.
  3. I agree. I think you should really consider boosting your GPA before finishing your degree.
  4. I don't recommend submitting the same letter. Given that a PhD is much longer, you should discuss your publishing arc and the kind of projects you would engage in at greater depth.
  5. Yeah, I know what you mean. Coming from an R1 institution, it certainly feels like a colossal task to secure one of those four seats.
  6. No idea. Not sure if applicants will be notified about being forwarded or not. Hopefully they'll announce the results of this first round soon... Fingers crossed!
  7. Yeah, I know what you mean. I just found out that the departmental grad chairs of applicants are the ones being invited to form the internal review committee. My chair is very green and has a student of their own that is applying. If they had to immediately dwindle the list down, I'm pretty certain that they would choose their own student over me, regardless of our portfolio and publication record.
  8. And lawyers, it seems.
  9. Best of luck, everyone!
  10. Oh, nice. Congratulations!
  11. That's cool. And interesting!
  12. Thanks for sharing! How did your get an extension on your cgs-d?
  13. What's your topic?
  14. I'll be applying this year. I've been struggling with the personal statement.
