I felt unproductive last semester due to COVID. This semester is a whole new level...struggling to write a chapter of my senior thesis as we speak.

My portal still says "out for review".

UCSD rejection as well. Slightly cruel of them to send it at that time of night...

I'm not buying those until someone claims them. Like a few days ago, they use the term PI, which isn't really used in political science in my experience.

I think it was discussed about a week ago on this thread, but one of my advisors recommended one-year Master's programs in the UK (cheaper than US)! Keep the faith re: your other schools, this year is crazy.

Claiming a Madison rejection after an interview. Really disappointed but I know it's still early in the cycle. Congrats to all who were admitted!

Madison admits - were your notifications personalized emails or one mass email? I felt optimistic after a really positive interview but am starting to lose hope.

I just checked and saw no decision either way. It seems more and more that the Princeton decisions are fake.

I did the same thing and feel the same way. I think I feel a bit less stressed as a result, but I'm not convinced there's a difference in that regard above 12 or so schools. And application fees add up quickly...

Have any Ohio State admits gotten anything except the portal acceptance yet? Seems odd that they wouldn't have sent any sort of email yet, although I have read the above messages about the unique funding process.

I'm guessing this depends on school, but I'm also stressing over not hearing from Northwestern yet so I looked at their releases last year. There are five acceptances on GradCafe so far this cycle, all from today. Last year, there were five acceptances on the first day, followed by five on later days. I think at least for NW we shouldn't count ourselves out just yet!

I'm applying straight out of undergrad. FWIW, my advisors told me to go this route instead of going through a Masters program first, but I wouldn't say that necessarily connotes an advantage in PhD admissions.

FWIW, Vanderbilt sent out an email letting applicants know of the decision timeline, which is consistent with past years.

On this topic - any insight on what interviews typically involve would be helpful. This probably varies from school to school, but hearing people’s experiences would definitely help me prepare in case I do get an interview.
