I don't think that should be the case: they may well be rolling out MPhil offers later, not least because those are more competitive (2/3rd of the Gates scholarships go to PhD scholars) so they may be taking more time with MPhil applicants. Also, from a purely logistical front, there is a separate link generated for each applicant to respond to, and I'm sure that takes some time to create. I don't think you should give up hope just yet! I'm quite positive more offers will roll out over today and tomorrow. All the best to everyone on this thread-- looking forward to meeting you later this year!

I got through Cambridge, English for a PhD, with the Gates scholarship! So excited for what comes next.

@ishet have to agree with @mada34: I think the responses should be in waves, because this is a very unusual time. So just hold on! Just so you know, I was told in the email that my response time to confirm/decline was till Tuesday, or else it would be offered to someone else. So even if you don't hear on Monday, you will still hear soon enough, I'm sure!! All the best!!

It could well be that they are sending out offers by panel-by-panel, so don't lose hope!

Hello! Nice to meet you too, and yes it is! So from what little I know of the grad admissions process in Cambridge, if you are being invited to interview, that is to rank you for funding. By the time you are interviewed, an acceptance has already been internally made. Based on how you are ranked by the department, you are nominated for the funds... But.if you are invited to interview, you are almost always ranked and nominated; how low/high is hard to predict and a rabbit hole not worth getting into... With the sample size of exactly me, the nomination bit has proven to be true, since I got news of the Gates-Cambridge scholarship shortlist/interview invite (international) yesterday. So if you were interviewed, it wouldn't be misplaced to grow hopeful!! All the best!!

Hi, I am one of the PhD in English acceptances, and I was told that I was being put forward for funding when I was contacted by my POI, following which I had an interview with her. I don't know what the process is usually like, but I was very explicitly told that this is happening...

How significant is the ranking difference between Rutgers and Northwestern for Comp Lit? Should I factor that in at all, or go with the better-suited POI/better-funded program?

Loving the stress discussion on here!! I'm planning on pulling an all-nighter (international squad, unite!) because I'm expecting that the last two decisions I have will roll in today, and my stupid brain thinks that I can somehow have them become acceptances if I stay up for them. This rationale is making me question my own ability for grad work...

Okay, that sounds great! I'm planning to share an apartment, regardless of where I live, so this sounds good! Not like I've made it (or I am going to), but idle wondering seems to be the theme of this decisions season. No, I hadn't, thank you for pointing it out! Looks like the actual fellowship amount is more than what is listed on the Penn website, which makes me think that the department website probably hasn't been updated in a while. My feelings are mixed: on one hand, the joy of knowing a secure life is indeed possible in Philly. On the other... no consolatory throughts when I inevitably DON'T make it to Penn.

Yeah, but even after factoring the additional $3800 in (which I think, is only available for three summers), it is still fairly lower than my other options, which are offering $32k-33.5k? So I'm just really confused as to why there is such a discrepancy? I'm auto-eliminated from fellowships like FLAS, being international, so I don't even think I can rake in fellowships, if places like Penn expect that of their candidates...

All applicants waiting on Penn: it's also definitely my top choice, but I'm wondering-- isn't the stipend comparatively non-competitive? I know the stipend isn't the primary concern in getting through grad school, but I'm also really thinking about the fact that I will be moving to a whole other side of the world for this. I do not want to be financially insecure on top of all the struggles grad school will invariably bring. I'm just weighing the expected stipend of the Benjamin Franklin fellowship against my other offers, which offer around $7-10k more. I'm just trying to figure out: is ~$24k in Philly enough for a single person? How is that, versus the ~$33k I'm being offered in Evanston, Illinois?

Just for my department, no updates on Ertegun yet. From my understanding, the processes start after the informal offer has been made.
