  1. Hi all! I was accepted to OSU today via the online portal so I created this chat so we can all announce our acceptances and celebrate the accomplishments of ourselves and of each other! Best of luck everyone
  2. I've been mentally preparing myself for not panicking if I didn't hear anything this weekend (even though via religious reviews of other forums/result page alluded to that being the time when acceptance notices were sent out). Best wishes to everyone else waiting, come February this chat will be flooded with good news for everyone!
  3. I JUST GOT ADMITTED TO OSU!!! No email, check the website
  4. Hey I'm also applying there! I think that they usually respond in the first week of February if I'm not mistaken and that the rejections follow soon after. In the results page it looked like some people heard back reallllly late in January but my money is on like February 3rdish
  5. I was thinking the same thing! I applied to a mix of Comp. Lit. and English PhD programs for this cycle because I wasn't sure where my 'academic home' really is with what I want to do. My research interest specifically is classical reception in the medieval period with respect to texts that touch on heroism and if women/religious or ethnic minorities/people with disabilities/etc could be displayed as heroic, and if so how (My writing sample/honors thesis was about female agency/efficacy and the downfall of Dido in various Middle English adaptations of her story). For Comparative Literature I applied to UPenn, Princeton, Cornell, and Indiana. I have not heard back from any but I think that's normal for these places with how early it is, my guess looking at past result boards is that Indiana will reply back first when people get in or UPenn will for their interview notifications in early February-ish. What are you set on studying in grad school/where did you apply? Best of luck to all applying this cycle!
  6. I am an anxious person to the core so I finished submitting all of my apps regardless of their deadlines in a 4 hour stupor before I left for Thanksgiving break though now I almost wish that I hadn't because it feels like I've been waiting an egregious amount of time to hear back from anywhere about anything, hope you get all your stuff in on-time!
  7. Hi all! Finally decided to make a profile since I've applied to various English/Comparative Literature programs for the fall 2020 season as well and wanted to connect with some fellow trainwrecks and such. I was wondering when interview notifications usually go out for UPenn's Comp Lit program is anyone knows/if anyone has a friend who might know and if anyone else here had research interests in medieval/classical literary reception
