Got it. That's still a great award, though not as likely to tip the scales in terms of cost vs. other schools. If you do choose Philly, you will love it there. It's a wonderful, vibrant, oft-underappreciated city. I live in DC but visit Philly often.

That is great to hear, thank you! I currently live in Oakland, CA and have been told if I love it here I will love Philly.

Nice! Did they offer $36K total or annually? That's a big difference. Seems like a lot of schools are generally trying to shave overall tuition costs down to $50-70K total with scholarship aid taken off. Is that what others are seeing?

36K total, so 18k a year. If it was per year I would absolutely lose it.

    That’s amazing! Are you considering?

Absolutely, unless Columbia offers me significantly more money than Penn, I want to move to Philadelphia. Their program allows me to do direct work in prisons from the get go, and I like that they have you do your field placement 3 days a week, most programs only require 2.

I think Penn will allow me to graduate with more confidence in my professional skill than the other programs I applied to.

  4. I have said this before but it may need to be said again.

To everyone who hasn't heard back from schools yet:

It is only the beginning of February! You're all SMART and GREAT and need to remember people primarily post good news, not no news and not bad news. It might look like everyone under the sun is getting in except you,  but that isn't true! This is a skewed sample (always question the source of your sample population)!

The start of February is still early to hear back, so if you haven't heard yet, don't worry! If you look back at old forums, people were hearing back January through late February and late March.

    Good luck ❤️

What types of questions do they ask you in the interview? Mine is next week :)

Pretty general questions, my interview was with Felicia Greenfield and lasted about an hour (but I truly never shut up which may be why it lasted so long).

She asked what interested me about Penn, why I would be a good fit, a difficult time in my life and how I moved through it. It was really more of a conversation than a structured interview. I can honestly say I had a great time speaking to her. From everything I have heard from others and my own experience, it is a pretty laid back interview. Michigan was super structured and serious, but Penn was real chill.

    Good luck!!!

Do those of you who got into Columbia mind sharing your stats? Or tips! Thanks ❤️

In my application I made sure to do a lot of research on the program and talked about the interests of specific professors I was excited to learn from/work with. Talked about multiple research labs I was interested in working in.

Bachelors in psych, 3.8 GPA, presented my research conferences (emotional self-efficacy and resiliency of foster youth using a community based participatory research framework), TA (general psych and biological psych), currently program manager of a nonprofit, 7 years of volunteer mentoring with substance dependent youth and young adults, graduated with Deans Medal of excellence.

Thanks so much for replying!  I’m happy to hear they’ll begin releasing decisions before Mar!

I would suggest calling them and asking too! They are really nice on the phone and the date may vary depending on when you applied. I applied late November.

Has anyone spoken with Berkeley regarding when admissions decisions will be released?  Their website says Mar 15, and that’s after the response deadline for other schools.

Also has anyone heard from Cal State schools?

I talked to Berkeley a few weeks ago and they said they would be released by February 22nd or so.

YES IM ABOUT TO PEE MY PANTS

I haven't gotten an update on my portal but this came from their application handbook: "All applicants who receive an offer of admission are required to provide an official copy of their final transcript prior to enrollment."

I WANT TO BE EXC ITED BUT IT DOESN'T FEEL REAL TILL THE PORTAL SAYS SO

  11. GUYS. I just checked my Columbia portal and it changed and now says "awaiting final transcripts" with red X's. I called to see if that meant I got in since they only require final transcripts when you get accepted and they said to "wait until I get an official notice" before I do anything.

Anyone else see that change on their Columbia portal??

Congrats on getting in! Did they ask you to come in for an interview or did you request the interview?

Thank you so much! I am really excited.

    They asked me to interview.

I went from getting C's, D's and (many) F's at a city college for three years to getting straight A's in city college and at my 4 year and they were curious how I had done it.
