  1. Well, I am out of the running. Received my formal rejection today. Perhaps next year will prove more fruitful. Good luck to everyone else!
  2. I would say that you do not have to respond, but it may be nice to simply reply with something along the lines of, "Thank you for the update! I continue to be interested in attending SCHOOL/PROGRAM and look forward to hearing more from you in the near future."
  3. Thanks for creating this thread! I have been so stressed waiting to hear post-interview and I wish you the best of luck as well. Note: Civilian track application, Dr. Riggs
  4. I just received a notification of my rejection this morning.
  5. Thanks for the info! I have just started assuming that most invites will be coming out this week or next.
  6. Yeah. It sounds like it was a really tough decision for the program, so no knock against them at all. This year has not been kind to anyone. They are refunding the fees. I was just really in love with the program and POI! I am sure it will all work out though.
  7. Well... it's a rough day... One of my top choices for schools, just decided to suspend applications for this year. Just as a heads up for y'all UMKC is not accepting applications this year.
  8. Just to offer another perspective. I had one program that I am reapplying to that I had an interview at last year and I did decide to mention it since my experience with the interview was such a positive experience. Basically, it was a small mention in my personal statement that I felt a good fit with the program, but I thought it was important to add. Other schools I reapplied to but hadn't had an interview I did not mention it. Hope this helps!
  9. As a heads up to anyone planning to apply to the University of Minnesota's Clinical Science and Psychopathology Research (CSPR) program. You cannot submit your application due to the above. Don't make my mistake and miss this banner. Not sure if they will end up allowing any applications to be submitted. Information can be found here: https://cla.umn.edu/psychology/graduate/how-apply
  10. @BeatriceWillow I think it can certainly be helpful to have a good relationship with one of the POIs you are applying to because it is all about the POI fitting with your interests. It is definitely overwhelming, but pacing yourself and working towards those deadlines can help! Don't forget to take breaks
  11. @BeatriceWillow Hey there! I am applying to 17 this year, but last year I applied to 8. I really think it is all about having POIs that really match your interests. I just so happened to have a lot that were available for me to apply to this year.
  12. @Raz16 Thanks for the help! I figured it was something along those lines.
  13. Question for y'all: If a program doesn't specify that your personal statement needs to be double-spaced and they only give a page limit would it look bad to make it single-spaced to give myself more space to write?
  14. Honestly, I don't regret applying to only 8 last year. I actually got 2 interviews and it was a wonderful experience. I am actually reapplying to 1 of the schools I got an interview at because the POI didn't actually end up taking any students last year due to budget restrictions. This year I am only applying to so many because they do actually have professors available that I want to work with. I also happen to be in a good situation, even with COVID that I can afford to apply to that many so I figured might as well go for it. My advice is go for that list of 10 schools and spend time working on making an excellent personal statement and whatever other application materials your schools might ask for. I wish you the absolute best!
  15. I totally feel you! Many of my POIs have not responded, but luckily a majority of them have and the responses have been rather encouraging. Last year, I only applied to 8 programs, so I am casting my net a bit wider this year in the hopes of being accepted. The fees are definitely tough though.
  16. Feeling like I started a bit late (Middle of September 2020), but I have basically finalized a list of 17 Clinical Psychology PhD programs that I plan to apply to. It is certainly daunting and exciting all at the same time. Best of luck to you!

  21. Hey everyone, This is my second time applying to graduate school, but it's my first time getting an interview. Does anyone know if the professor emailing you/inviting you is the one interested in working with you?
  22. I am sure many of you have seen this already, but I though this link was rather helpful for thinking of ideas for interview questions: https://www.psychologyinaction.org/psychology-in-action-1/2013/02/06/graduate-program-interviews-clinical-psychology
  23. School: University of Missouri St. Louis Type: PhD Date of invite: 31 December 2019 Type of invite: Email from POI Interview date(s): 31 January 2020, in-person
