  1. My advisor emailed me about it but she didn't make it explicitly clear that this was an additional amount of money so I was a little confused and thought my appeal hadn't been successful. But then I got an email from SEAS outlining the changes to my funding. I had also previously emailed SEAS financial aid and they just suggested loans/scholarships, so I was discouraged by that. I'm really glad I ended up reaching out to my advisor as well! I said that I was uncertain if I'd be able to attend SEAS without further funding since I'm coming straight from undergrad and haven't had the opportunity to save much money for tuition. I did all of this before committing to the program since I figured that gave me more leverage, but I'm sure it's possible to negotiate after committing (especially with all of the uncertainty surrounding higher ed and personal finances due to COVID-19)
  2. I got a 15k fellowship when I was first admitted and then got another 15k on April 7 after emailing my advisor and asking if there was any room for negotiation! I'm super pleased with how generous SEAS has been. I was wondering the same thing about why they suddenly had extra funds
  3. I'm so glad I found this thread! I just had to move back home due to my university kicking everyone out of housing, and it's so strange to suddenly be back home. There were so many things I wanted to do to say goodbye to my university and to DC that I won't get the chance to do now, and there's a lot of grief attached to being thrust into a new stage of life without properly leaving the one before. I like to have a lot of time to think and reflect around big life changes, and I guess I know have tons of time to reflect haha. But it is just really painful, as you all know, to know that I'll never get to be that person at that university anymore and that I never got to say goodbye! My university is allowing us to participate in commencement next year (2021) which is really nice but obviously won't be the same. I'll be halfway through my master's and probably feeling very detached from my undergrad self, but at least it will be a nice reunion with my friends.
  4. I noticed the same thing in the BEC specialization info session... the questions they chose to answer were really basic and repetitive questions that had already been discussed several times in the initial talk. But overall the info session was helpful, and I really enjoyed talking to my advisor. I heard the dean say that, too! It was strange because he seemed confident that classes would be happening no matter what... so does that mean we'll be having online classes? I don't know if I'll be willing to pay this $$$ price tag for online classes
  5. I'm planning on still traveling to Ann Arbor if anyone else is, too, and wants to meet up!
  6. It's so stressful being in college right now (my university just went online until April 5 and is kicking all of us out of university housing so I have to figure out where to go) so I can only hope this is resolved by the fall ?
  7. I really hope not ? I'm looking forward to seeing Ann Arbor and getting to know more about SEAS, and either way I'll already be traveling to PR that week for spring break so I'm not worried about traveling
  8. Rejected from FES — I’m coming straight from undergrad so this was very much the result I expected. A little disappointing but not too much, I wasn’t thrilled about the idea of living with my parents for two years anyway! ? congrats everyone!
  9. That's awesome! You obviously have what these schools are looking for and you should be super proud! I haven't heard from CU Boulder yet but I know it's not really an option for me anyway because of the price. Knowing that you heard from them is great though because it means hopefully I'll get an answer today
  10. Is anyone else waiting for a school that said decisions would come out before March 1? CU Boulder said before March 1 and it seems like they're really going to push it right up to that date ?
  11. Just got the email from SEAS about admitted students day -- I didn't realize that they would reimburse for travel expenses. I think I may end up going now that I know that!
  12. I was assigned one (she's one of the people I identified on my application). What about you?
  13. Is anyone else here in the D.C. area by any chance? Yale F&ES invited me to a couple events for D.C. applicants and I'm wondering if I might see any of you there!
