You have a great list already for MA applications (Williams and Case give ample funding, Tufts gives partial funding, I am not sure what Tulane does). IFA MAs are, as someone already said, cash cows. I do not think Harvard offers standalone MAs - correct me if I am wrong. In terms of CUNY - I'd get in touch with former students of Hahn and ask them about their experience. Actually this holds for all others, too. A pity about Nees, I hear he is wonderful.
  2. I second the above recommendation and also stay away from IFA for an MA. MAs are cash cows there. Also: I didn't know Boston College grants PhDs in art history (my understanding is they only have an undergraduate program).
  3. I already posted this in another thread, but Tufts, Case Western, and Williams offer aid to MA students and have a great track record placing them subsequently into PhD programs (although it depends on the advisor, I hear). Good luck!
  4. I agree with roving99. This is not OK. The CGS resolution does only apply to financial offers, but no proper school would force you to make this decision before April 15. And these proper schools will tell you just that if you tell them that you are being pressured. Also, please do not go get a graduate degree in art history without any financial aid!
  5. It's a complete swindle and the reputation of this program is pretty terrible. If you are at all interested in going on to a PhD program, I would suggest pursuing a proper MA in Medieval Art. Did you apply to Tufts (Maranci/Overbey, who is however retiring), Case (Gertsman/Bolman), Williams (Low)? They are all excellent programs that offer funding and have a great track record placing their MA students in top PhD programs.
