Repost: Can someone find statistics on the people awarded fellowships based on hard science (life, biology, earth science, engineering, statistic, computer science etc.) and social science/humanities (psychology, sociology, criminal justice, anthropology, history, english, women studies, etc.) from previous years? Just wondering is all.

Can someone find statistics on the people awarded fellowships based on hard science (life, biology, earth science, engineering, statistic, computer science etc.) and social science/humanities (psychology, sociology, criminal justice, anthropology, history, english, women studies, etc.) from previous years? 5. Congratz. I realized this after more people came out with their statuses.
  6. Same didn't get an email.... Am I bugging or was announcement different in previous years....
  7. If it was announced today, congrats to all who received the ford predoc this spring 2020.
  8. That's why I am asking to clarify if it was for this year or last year. Its not clear to me.
  9. Are you a winner from 2019? Or someone who received the award this week (like 2020) announcement.. Idk I highly doubt that its for this week. @Alma1350@refreshingmyemail Even the post indicated stuff for 2019.... I am a skeptic but I don't think awards were announced for 2020 as of yet...
  10. *deleted comment* I will have to say thats kinda of weird if they were... traditionally everyone was told at the same time/same day... and comments regarding reviews were never posted along results until two weeks after.

    What do you mean?
  13. You can look for external funding programs like NSF, Ford, GEM etc. What these programs do is provide great funding for several years (usually 3). Usually the grad program supplement the remaining 2 years in order for the student to have a guaranteed 5 years of funding. Most fellowships (major ones) open in the fall and then we hear back in the spring (March/April)... You can attempt to look for more fellowship programs that can offer a year, then when start UCLA you can apply to as much fellowships as you can.. from there, hopefully you hear good news. Or ask to defer offer to UCLA for a year and apply to fellowships in hopes to get external funding. There are a lot of good external funding programs, mostly competitive but this is one way to get funding.
  14. In what context? Do you mean if all students are admitted do they get funding (yes)... It varies if you have a TA/RA line or TA/RA line w/ fellowship.... This is pertaining to the social science. If you want a break down in numbers you can PM me.
  15. May I ask what is your reverse card? You were rejected from Rutgers but played a reverse card, so maybe not... What does that mean?
  16. Oh I am not sure how many students they take. Also, don't give up complete hope... like anything can happen. I hope it works out for your other choices.
  17. Well when the update is no longer updating you will see your status. The reason why we (me and the other poster) may assume it is a rejection is because on the results section for sociology about 2-3 people posted that they received emails from the department being admitted. So if you didn't get an email on the 5th there is a likelihood of a rejection. I am hoping that once the portal updates from pending status we will know what's up. I also hope there is still hope for us who are in this situation, so hopefully the update does not show a rejection but some good news.
  18. I also applied so I don't know. Same status I saw on my application page. I don't want to discourage you (or anyone) but I am seeing it as a rejection. By some miracle I do pray it is an acceptance or even wait-list status but... I am not hopeful. What other schools you applied to?
  19. I hope you heard good news from the schools you heard back from! I am still waiting on MSU (from crim). The other programs I applied to were in sociology.
  20. That's cool. I heard back from one school, so I am happy about that. I'm waiting to hear from UMCP as well and UMass Amherst for sociology. I'm low key worried because someone just posted that they got an email acceptance from UMass for soc (the person was an international student, so maybe they are still trickling out emails from I to A). So I hope there is still hope for me in the upcoming days... Also MSU for crim. And yeah I agree with one of the posters, I think we will hear a lot back next week from schools. So praying for us all.
  21. Not a full bright scholar so can't help with your question. But I have a question... What schools did you apply to? I'm wondering cause I too applied to schools that haven't announced anything. I only heard back from Rutgers and was admitted but waiting on funding. Also, maybe checking the previous years on the result can give you ETA on when/how you should hear from your schools.
  22. Good stuff. I hope it works out for you.
  23. Will do. Like I said I was admitted into the program but they are looking for university funding to fund students. But again, they won't officially admit students who they can't find funding for. I am going to call the department, but I am excited for the admittance, mainly because I am optimistic funding will open up, it wasn't a full blow rejection, and also it was not a waitlisted status-- because there is a difference between the two, and I applied to two external fellowships (and I am very hopeful that I will get one of them). But I am hoping for the best as this is my top choice in schools/programs. So I do hope it works out. I will call and let others know. Was anyone admitted to Rutgers (soc) with funding?????? I am curious to know/ask questions if its okay.
  24. MSU, crim Rutgers, UM (College Park), UMass Amherst, for soc (strong criminal justice oriented faculty focus tho)
  25. Is that your first choice? What other schools/programs did you apply to?
