Hi all! I just have to say--I've been creepin' on this forum for weeks (I applied to Acting MFA programs, not Playwriting), and you folx just have the best energy. It's encouraging to read about results, positive or negative. So thanks for that. The acting thread has been pretty much dead.
Also, pretty jealous that you get to interview with famous playwrights! How humbling.

On Friday I got my acceptance into Hunter and last night my rejection (which was the sweetest, kindest email from Naomi!) from UCSD.
It's such a weird mix to feel both happy and disappointed. I told myself if I was fortunate enough to get into any program this year I'd go, and Hunter is an amazing program and Christine was so welcoming! But I admit I fell in love with UCSD getting to know it and am debating on trying again next year. I can't tell if it's something I'm trying to make happen or if its actually meant to be. The only real downside to Hunter is that it's in NYC and I've been avoiding that city because between the pace and the cold, I don't know if my depression can handle it (hence what I liked about UCSD amongst other things).
Waiting to hear about funding from Hunter and officially hear from Brown, BU, Brooklyn College and Ohio (I did apply to UCLA but haven't heard a thing so it feels like a figment of my imagination lol). I know I'm in a fortunate position to be bitching from, but I'd love some perspective.

OMG that's so sweet!!! Like, I feel honored by association XD I've been scared to look at the other creative threads just cause I could only tolerate the anxiety of one at a time XD Thank you! Hope your process is going well!

For reeeeal. My fiance and I have plans for every outcome, but have been just kinda in limbo. But we're happy with all of our choices, even if it means applying again next year (and the year after and the year after...)
Speaking of theatrical futures! Kind of a shot in the dark, but if any of y'all also happen to be based in San Diego, PM me! Got some theatrical goings on down here and we're always looking for new writers!!

My partner applied to 17 DMA/PhD programs in Composition (I'm also applying to MFA programs, so we're casting a pretty wide net here). Here's where things stand for him:
Applied: UC Berkeley, UC Irvine, UC San Diego, Princeton, Rutgers, CUNY Graduate Center, UMiss Kansas City, UT Austin, Hartt School, UPitt, U Washington, Juilliard, University of Chicago, USC, Northwestern, Brown, Brandeis
Interviewed: Rutgers, UT Austin, Hartt School, U Pitt
Rejections: U Washington, Juilliard, U of Chicago, USC, Northwestern
Radio Silence: UC Berkley, UC Irvine, US San Diego, Princeton, CUNY Graduate Center, UMiss Kansas City, Brown, Brandeis
Acceptances: Zilch as of yet.
Has anyone heard from any of the above schools (interviews or acceptances)? It's a long list. Ha!

Notification from UT Austin came today!

Dear Dr. (Graduate Studies Director), 
Thank you so much for considering me for your program. Unfortunately, I have already accepted an offer from another school, and will, therefore, forego the interview. I wanted to let you know as soon as possible so that you can make adjustments.

Hey JayC! Yeah, waiting is definitely the hardest part--I feel you on that one.
So far, I've heard back from all of the URTA schools that called me back: an acceptance from East 15, a callback weekend from Brooklyn College, and a callback visit at California State University Long Beach (I declined interest in Rose Bruford at the URTAs). I'm also waiting to hear from schools that I had end-of-day callbacks for: NYU, ACT (I know they've been calling people since last week), University of San Diego. DePaul has their final audition date tomorrow. My gut feeling is that we'll be hearing within the next week or so as folx decline offers/can't attend callbacks and new candidates from their lists are contacted.

Hey Crooked Lane, a friend of mine was notified at her end-of-day interview at Columbia that she was invited to the callback weekend. I don't know if it's the same for all candidates or not. Hope that's helpful.

Hi all! Unbelievably, there's no Acting MFA thread for 2020, so let's get the proverbial ball a-rolling, yes?
Where is everyone in the process? I received an official offer from East 15 today, and a rejection from Brown. (Womp, womp.) It's been a rollercoaster of a day. Ha. Also, I was rejected from USC at the tail end of January.
Anyone hear from USD, NYU, or ACT? I know DePaul is still auditioning!
