  1. That is awesome, congrats @SoCalGurl! I was rejected, so I am taking a year to see if I will go back. I didn't love my safety school, so I went ahead and told them I would not attend. My other four schools were all rejections. I have been going to school non-stop for the last 11 years, so I am ready for a break. I wish you luck in your final decision. Congrats to everyone else who got into Hopkins.
  2. @SoCalGurl I had privately emailed them. They sent an email blast on March 13th at 5:09 PM. So, a couple of hours after you posted. I have a feeling we will find out on Friday. They said it in my email early this week, but the email blast says it was this week, and there has been silence.
  3. I got an email from JHU that decisions will be released early next week. So it may be a few more days, but we should hear by next Wednesday.
  4. @SoCalGurl, mega congratulations! That is some pretty cool research. I love the link to public health! Sounds like you can do some pretty cool things at both schools. What I like about JHU is the dossier approach; we can be more creative with the final product, and to me, that is pretty exciting. I like the idea of being able to do something artistic/non-traditional. Hopefully, we will hear something from JHU this week. Fingers crossed, we both get in (with a decent scholarship)!
  5. Sorry for the delay @SoCalGurl. I've been beyond busy and haven't checked here, so I didn't see your message - I have not heard anything. I assume we should hear from them by the end of next week, right? They did say mid-March!
  6. I got an email today titled "Doctorate of Education Scholarship and Financial Aid." It asked me to apply for FASFA to be considered for need-based tuition scholarships. Still, there is no word on acceptance, and the email says while the application is under review, please review the following information... it then says to apply before March 1st. I am not doing an application before I get accepted and have the decision on merit scholarships. This is mainly because Mohela is bound to do something stupid with my PSLF account once they get a notice I am going back to school. I reached out to them and asked for a better timeline. I will let you know when I hear back.
  7. I got my rejection. It wasn't an excellent fit for my research, so I am not upset. Plus, it didn't cost anything to apply; they let me use U/O transcripts, so no harm, no foul.
  8. Same. I am not holding my breath, but it would be nice to get the rejection sooner rather than later if they are going to send one.
  9. Thanks, and good luck with it! Who knows, maybe we will end up classmates.
  10. This is all, of course, if I get in which I am not sure I have a shot. Hopeful but quite weary.
  11. Yes. It is quite impossible on a student's salary to live without roommates or in campus housing/loans. Yet it is the number 1 school in the US, so if academia is the goal, it makes sense. If not, then I could see pivoting to a more affordable place. I live 2 hours away and will take the bus for classes. It is not a fun commute, but you do what you have to do. Hoping can make it one day instead of multiple a week.
  12. Have my fingers crossed, you get full funding! I applied to the Ed.D. in Instructional Technology & Media.
  13. Mine was also called an assessment, just a recorded video interview. I assume they watch them back later. I had until Feb 2nd to complete it. I did it on the Monday after getting the invite on a Friday night just to get it done. I wonder if they send these out by when apps are submitted/completed. I finished mine in early/mid-October. Also, I believe in the intro video for the assessment oe of the faculty members says we will hear back in March if it is accepted. So it is a waiting game.
  14. Congrats! Welcome to Columbia! Did it come with the funding offer? Hopefully, this is a sign I will hear as Math Ed is under the larger department where my current program is housed and where I applied for an Ed.D., so maybe I will hear soon. Regarding my doc app, I just got off with Admissions; they said I would hear mid to late March but I think it's just a canned answer. So many people are getting offers. That is likely the deadline for departments to get everything in.
  15. Hopefully, we will soon. Fingers crossed this week, if not today! What program did you apply to?
  16. Each department is so different. What program did you apply to?
  17. TC is a bit odd, and the answer is it depends (policy below). My program only admits full-time, and thus, some money is provided. Whether they will be stingy (not get enough points) or over-accept and offer someone partial/no funding is another story. I work full-time in the field, so I don't need or want an assistantship. I am finishing my second master's at TC (the first one at an R2), and they gave me partial non-service funding in the form of points. I hope I am admitted with points that cover tuition, and that is it. " Doctoral Candidates Full and partial funding packages are offered to qualified candidates. Such support may include, but is not limited to: points (tuition scholarship), stipend, fellowship, or other work opportunities. Doctoral funding is not guaranteed, and students may be admitted without the promise of continuous funding. Prospective students should speak with the faculty in their academic program of interest." 18. For sure. Did you write about AI in your SOP? I 100% trust that we will *ALL* end up where we are meant to be. Keep the faith; we got this!
  19. I wonder if it is a college-wide deadline. The Education Culture and Society program was on my radar, but I refused to retake the GRE. My scores ran out last year, and it is an antiquated system and not a suitable measurement for readiness. I mean, you would think two master's, one from an Ivy and a grad certificate, would qualify for a waiver, but they claimed it wouldn't be fair - even though they did not have it as a requirement in the last few years. They don't require them for Ed. D.s, so I chose the Teaching, Learning, and Teacher Education program since my research can fit there. I liked that they have an apprenticeship model, and I can still work. Penn is not my first choice (I don't like Philly), but it is a super good program, so we will see how it works out. I 100% trust that we will *ALL* end up where we are meant to be. Keep the faith; you got this!
  20. Okay, so that was not part of my app. It makes sense for a Mid-Career program also saw over on Reddit that some of the Ph.D. programs have them as well at least in the STEM fields. That would suck to be on the hook, but if Penn GSE is like Teachers College (cheap) you likely are footing the bill but I am rooting for you not to be! If you emailed them and are waiting for a reply check your spam my reply from them went there - I almost had a heart attack.
  21. Wait where did you find that out? Do they? Did you get an invite?
  22. I applied to the Teaching, Learning, and Teacher Education Ed.D. program. I got a response from admissions after I asked them when we should hear from them (their response went to my junk folder - iCloud). They said I would hear in early to mid-February.
  23. So, I received an interview request for the Doctor of Education (online) at Johns Hopkins. I have completed it, but I don't know how I did it; it was recorded, so I could not read body language. I believe I will hear back in March, which feels years away. As of today, the Doctor of Education in Instructional Technology & Media at Teachers College is 'still reviewing the application pool.' Looks like programs at Teachers College have already started to release decisions; I saw on Linkedin that someone posted their linguistics acceptance. The Doctor of Education in Curriculum and Instruction (online) at UVA has not closed its applications yet, so don't expect to hear back until March. Unsure about Penn GSE, I applied to the Teaching, Learning, and Teacher Education Ed.D. program - I assume I will hear in March.
