  1. Hey all check your emails I received a request to do a virtual interview for the Ed.D. Program at Hopkins yesterday at 5:36 PM. Has anyone else gotten one? I saw on a recorded webinar they were going to do them starting in Novemeber not sure if others have completed them and I am late to the party or this is the first round.
  2. I have been accepted into my first program of the season. Boise State admitted me via early review. The program is 60 credits, and they will transfer around 21 credits from my second Master's. The funding is sparse, and I am waiting on Scholarship decisions, but it is cheap enough that if I don't get anything, my work benefits will cover 90% of the cost. Adjuncting around three courses over the next few years would cover the rest of the price. I still have my fingers crossed that I get accepted into one of the top 20 with full funding. I guess I will find out in the coming months.
  3. Absolutely, the SOP can make a significant difference. It's worth mentioning that while some might view your GPAs as a bit low, I managed to secure admission into two separate TC master's programs (different departments) with a 3.5 in my first master's degree, a 3.0 in my bachelor's degree, and a 3.6 in my associate's program. So, I encourage you to give it a shot! After all, what's the worst that could happen? If you don't get in... then you try again next year. Keep that optimism alive!
  4. I wouldn't think wanting a third master's would be a problem, especially as it is in leadership. Your SOP should explain how this degree fits your goals and how you tried to switch fields. The personal narrative you spin is usually like 50% of your SOP. What were the GPAs for your two master's programs? The BA is so far in the past that I would think it most likely will not matter as much as your graduate coursework.
  5. Hello everyone! I saw a post from @mstaylor, who started a thread about where they are applying, intending to create camaraderie within the education circle. Where is everyone applying? Please share your results, thoughts, stats, and comments. I have applied to the Doctor of Education (online) in The Digital Age Learning and Educational Technology area of interest at Johns Hopkins, the Doctor of Education in Curriculum and Instruction (online) area of emphasis in Instructional Design and Technology at UVA, and the Doctor of Education in Instructional Technology & Media from Teachers College. I also applied to the Ed.D. in Educational Technology from Boise State for my "safety" program.
  6. Hello everyone! I am currently doing a second master's at TC but I am applying for the Ed.D. in Instructional Technology & Media for Fall 2024. With the new ranking, I have a feeling that it will be steep competition this cycle. I would love to connect with others applying to TC for Fall 2024.
  7. Interviewed Tuesday, and I got my acceptance Thursday! So beyond grateful! How is everyone else who applied to TC doing?
  8. I just got an admissions interview invite for the MA in Computing in Education tonight!
  9. Has anyone applied to the MA in Computing in Education (Online) program? If so what are your stats? I applied rolling admission. Not sure when I will hear back.
  10. I got in! Now I am waiting for my funding package. I guess I have to wait two weeks until it is generated.
  11. I applied to the Ed.M. in Philosophy and Education for Spring 2021 entry. I am currently in an Ed.D. program and it isn't a great fit for my research so I decided to do a second Master's and after talking to the chair I was told to apply for the Ed.M. instead of the M.A. the director look forward to hearing if I get in soon.
  12. Program: So I applied for the Doctor of Education in Curriculum and Teaching (non-priority) I figured I would share some of my stats while I wait to hear back. Stats: Degrees and GPA: Masters in Education: Curriculum and Teaching (3.5 GPA) School is a mid size state school that is an R2, Bachelor of Arts: Philosophy (3.0 GPA) School is a Catholic Private School, Associate in Science: Human Services (3.61 GPA) small private liberal arts college. Background: I work as a part-time faculty member at a small liberal arts college where I teach online upper-level and lower-level philosophy and social science courses. I also have two years as an instructor of record during my masters, where I was teaching education technology (online) and cultural studies courses (face to face). I also worked for Johns Hopkins: Center for Talented Youth as a teaching assistant for two summer terms. I also have various service positions as a grad student and a small grant / few travel awards. I have presented at multiple conferences. I know I have strong letters of recommendation because my recommenders let me read them. (One is from a leading scholar in the field of Play) Weak parts of my app: I research college teaching, and therefore my research only falls under the curriculum studies concentration and is not exactly a perfect fit for the program. I have horrible GRE’s scores - they were taken in 2016, and I do not test well -- I will never retake them. If anything kills me it is my research fit but hoping because the course work isn't rigid I may have a shot.
  13. I did not. I realized my last LOR was just submitted today. I guess I will have to wait two weeks from tomorrow to hear anything. I know they have a High School fellowship for the humanities. Its worth 32K I believe. I would for sure apply to it.
  14. Some programs at Teachers College do not require them.
  15. Any other applicants? I applied for the middle level certification in Social Studies apprenticeship.
  16. I applied non-priority to the Doctor of Education in Curriculum and Teaching program. No word yet.
