  1. I feel like the calls for interviews should have happened by now for Vandy - I wonder if they stagger it though somehow or go department by department. AGHHHHHHH.
  2. Has anyone heard from Vanderbilt about interviews yet? Seems like it should be happening right around now.
  3. Yes, I know one of the admission committee members and she told me. And Brenda Weber is amazing - she's also going to be the chair of the department next year.
  4. Anyone die hard about the IU-Bloomington program? The three readers for the admissions committee are all women (2 white and 1 WOC) and committed to diversifying the department. It sounds like they will be done with the first round by Jan 30. It's the only school I'm applying to right now.
  5. I got the letter on Friday, but I forgot to look at the date. I was very sad and bitter and just tore up the letter and threw it away. Maybe if you haven't heard that's a good sign! I am trying to figure out if most schools tell acceptances or rejections first...It seems like they would tell acceptances first, but who knows.
  6. Rejected from Drew's GDR PhD in Religion and Society today.
  7. Has anyone applied MA or PhD? Anyone have any information? Anyone already in the program? Any thoughts or anything? Starting to get antsy.
  8. I had a friend who got into Duke's ThD last year off the waitlist. She found out sometime late March/early April - they had her come down for a visit and interview, and then she made the decision while she was down there. She still got a really decent financial package, too.
  9. Deadlines are fast approaching - I can't believe Thanksgiving is next week. How is that possible... I'm just applying to 2 - it's now or never (3rd round - I had 2 acceptances but couldn't swing it financially and practically with spouse's job): Indiana University - Religion in the Americas Drew University - Religion and Society ThM GPA - 3.9 MDiv GPA - 3.5 GRE - 610 (v) 650 (q) I have no languages - I had considered doing an online course on German but no time this fall. Good luck everyone!
  10. 1. 3.5 UG Religion and English 3.4 MDIV 3.8 ThM 600 V 600 Q 5.5 W 2. Garrett (deferred - low funding), Drew 3. Vanderbilt I'm planning on waiting until next year to see about some other schools...husband's job situation is a major factor, too, so I want to apply to 1-2 other programs. Otherwise, it's Chi-town!
  11. still no word from Temple. there's that result submission last week - an acceptance and in the notes it an email said letters were out that same day. i don't live too far away from philly...can't imagine it taking too much time. this is the last one i need to hear from and then i can officially close out this year. but i need closure!
  12. could you give a link to the arkansas or lsu program for german reading?
  13. this was a super helpful thread. thank you for the great thoughts...lots to chew on and process.
  14. I graduated a while ago, early 2000's so I'm sure that it has adjusted over the years, but I know a few of the administrators very well, and they are always willing to help find financial assistance. It is definitely by far the cheapest tuition especially compared to programs of the same caliber. Yes, it does help to be Presbyterian.
  15. I think with their MDiv they've always been able to offer full tuition at least. I haven't heard differently, but I graduated from there a little while ago though. In terms of moms, the friends I had did feel some strain at times but were always able to find good support from the community in general. I think when a seminary is residential that makes a big difference with the support system. There is a well-established Women's Center, and in general, some nice opportunities for connection. There's a couple of admins who are really accessible, too. It's a great place, I loved every second of it.
  16. got the letter today, forgot to post on this thread, too, (i put up on phd results), but yes got the acceptance.
  17. i guess it balances out rejection from union after i sent email asking about notifications. here's the email i got: "Letters will be sent out next week. I do regret to inform you that the Committee has not invited you into the program for the 2010 academic year. I encourage you to reapply next year. I have attached the application to this e-mail for your convenience. I look forward to hearing from you." oh well.
  18. Still nothing from Union or Drew!!! AAAARRRRRRGGGGGHHHHH! And actually I did get something from Vandy yesterday, I thought it would be the official rejection letter, so I could move on, but it was just a hard copy of the email I got mid-February about being an alternate. I feel like they're toying with my heart...
  19. So sorry... I'm still waiting to get word. I've pretty much given up hope and moved on...but it would be helpful to get something official. Best to you...
