  1. i'm in the exact same place.
  2. I did. I believe they're later in March.
  3. Took Dez to the dog park today. Always takes my mind off things.
  4. oops it was in poli- sci!
  5. Theres also a post on the social sciences general board that has a lot of info.
  6. I adopted Dez a few days after I finished all my applications. I needed someone to go through all these changes with. He's my best friend. I don't like my living situations (5 females under 21, do the math) so he's really my only thing making me happy right now. Especially because I'm expecting rejections for 3 of my schools now. From the shelter:
  7. a+ day to leave my phone at home. though i'm sure i'll have no important missed calls when i get back.
  8. You got a near perfect score. You'll live. Cut the self righteous attitude and sass because no matter where you are, it will only affect you negatively. And from the personality you portray on the internet, it will likely affect you behind your back without your knowledge.
  9. the archaeology postings on the results forums were for The Cotsen Institute, which is a PhD in Archaeology. Completely separate from Anthropology Phd. We should all be getting our notifications around the same time according to my contact.
  10. you can take the est once every CALENDAR month. so yes, you could take it on the 30th and the 1st of the next month.
  11. Wow I somehow missed that links existence entirely. It still says "Submitted" so who knows what that means. I'm in Andean studies, particularly cultural transmission, immigration and mortuary culture on the south coast. What about you?
  12. This. Williamsburg, Park Slope in Brooklyn are nice, Astoria in queens is LOVELY.
  13. same, especially because i'm doing this right out of undergrad and its my first application season I am continuing to prepare myself for the worst. i keep telling myself it only takes one but I sure as hell hope I will get at least one. And hear soon.
  14. ah, you're the first person i've seen on here in arch applying to the same schools as I am. good luck to you! Where do you see any sort of status on the UCLA grad division site? I've been assuming no news is good news.
  15. that's expected as its what i've heard about ASU. they're the only school on my list that doesn't fully fund so its a pretty small chance of me ending up there. Just been so long since I submitted that app! (2 months) you'd think they'd have sent something out by now. if anyone knows anything about WashU, UCLA-Anthro or UChicago, also always welcomed!
  16. I'm not gonna lie, this thread got kind of entertaining
  17. did anyone else apply or have contacts about ASU? I haven't heard a peep from them or about them on here.
  18. I also applied to Vandy, anxiously awaiting the response. I grew up 6 hours from Nashville and visited often when I was in high school for music concerts/shows. I hadn't gone back until the past September when I visited Vandy. My sister in law went to UT for her masters and I can say that upon visiting nashville this last time, it is getting more of an Austin feel to it. Increasingly local business and environmental consciousness, good food and of course local music. I would say Nashville is moving towards Austin and actually is a wonderful place to live. I can't speak for Knoxville, but I don't think it'll be TOO much of a culture shock. Just remember, there really is no place like Austin.
  19. that UCLA-Anthro/Archaeology rejection on the results board has me shaken up this morning. I haven't received anything, though I suppose if someone really did get a rejection, that silence can only be a good thing at this point.
  20. Congrats! I'm jealous you guys already have your response! Cotsen/UCLA is a wonderful program.
  21. I want to know who got into Cotsen/UCLA! I applied to the anthro dept rather than cotsen based on my poi's advisement/request, but it still has me on edge! Congrats to whoever was accepted
  22. Lately I've been having telemarketers call my cell phone. Obviously the numbers aren't saved so I answer every single one. I hate it. I'd like a phone call, but email and maybe a follow up phone call is also wonderful. Honestly, for a rejection, I think a "check the website" is fine. I'd rather not dissect some silly, mass mailed letter.
  23. I did my field school with UCSD and sat in on one of their lectures on actually sat in on a lecture by Mazar on israeli archaeology when I visited some friends there last spring. My friends (also arch majors) seemed bored, but I thought it was interesting. I knew the TA too so that was moderately entertaining. It's a lovely campus if you haven't visited! I am actually an Andeanist so I'm afraid NELC wouldn't get me very far haha. No word yet but its still early for all of my schools!
  24. probably throw up. then eat alot. likely involving brownies and other forms of chocolate. hang out with my dog and buy him a nice big bone.
  25. as an archaeology applicant myself, i'm intrigued as to what program this might be! whats your area of focus?
