Damn. It's okay, though. I already knew that I don't have a life. Plus, someone had to take linden's spot in representing the Government-Affairs crew.

Which school is your top choice?

...but probably about $100k more expensive than WWS. Though that's probably a choice you'd kill for: "Hmm...Harvard or Princeton? Decisions, decisions." -

Dream situation: Princeton More realistic: GSPP w/in-state tuition or Georgetown w/scholarship -
Phew. I was sure I was going to be in the bottom half of the list at least. Does this mean I have a life?

Georgetown Strengths/Weaknesses

To me as well. Which is part of the reason I don't think linden is out of the running for funding at Georgetown. -
Any Recommended Reading Lists?
policy_applicant replied to golonghorns's topic in Government Affairs Forum
That's a pretty good list, therunaround. I'll have to check out some of those titles. In addition, once I decide where I'm going, I'm planning to read some of the books/articles written by professors I'm interested in at the school. That should take up a little time. -

What a weird situation with the emails. I think everyone should stay hopeful at least until next week. I wouldn't assume you're out of the running until Georgetown has actually sent out some emails with good news. Plus, I had some wind taken out of my sails last night after finally receiving my acceptance letter to a certain other DC school that designated me an alternate for fellowships/assistantships. Talk about the end of the road....I'm currently sitting on two unaffordable acceptances, so I'm really praying for a good GPPI award (though now with a little less confidence). Anyway, I'm sure someone on this board will get money from GPPI, at which point we can assume that no email within the day means no scholarship. Until then, though, chins up, people! -

Good luck to you too, linden. This is going to be a loooong weekend. -

Anyone Hear From the LBJ School?

Maybe they'll find your honesty refreshing and admit you anyway. -
Wow, that's awesome. And really nice to have such an amazing offer in your back pocket.

We should all be so lucky as to have SOs who are willing to distract us for a couple tense hours. -
Is anyone on here the applicant who received 31.5K/year for the Pitt/DC split program? That's really impressive!

A friend just called my cell phone, and I nearly had a panic attack until I realized it was just him. I need to tell everyone not to call or email me until I've heard something. -

It seems that since they decided to wait until Friday, they would also decide to wait until the end of the day. Maybe they don't want to receive a deluge of calls? But who knows. It seems like they would get more calls from impatient waiters (i.e., us) than from people who received awards early in the day. Anyway, I received the scholarship essay request at 8:30 EST, so I doubt they're on a 9-5 schedule this time of year. EDIT: Ditto Linden. -

Noon now!! They shouldn't get to eat until emails go out! Maybe emails already did go out and no one on thegradcafe got funding (unlikely, I know). -

That's a good point. The wait has definitely focused my anxiety solely on Georgetown. -
Public/Intl Affairs/Relations/Policy Fall 2009

A professor I spoke with at Berkeley also lamented the students' idealogical homogeneity. It made me briefly (and unseriously) consider posing as a Republican to increase my chances of admission. -

Anybody heard anything about funding yet? Are they really going to make us wait until Friday? (Yes, I realize that's only tomorrow.) -

sisepuede, I don't think Georgetown is going to change its admissions page. Mine still says to check with the department to make sure all my docs have been received. I think we're just stuck waiting for the snail-mail official acceptance.
