  1. Ugh...tell me something I don't know, GSPP.
  2. Sounds good to me. If you start it up, I'll chime in.
  3. GWU sent out a first batch of acceptances early in the month. My suspicion is that there are more to come since I don't know how they could get through all the applications so quickly.
  4. All my family's in Sacramento, so I get this sort of thing all the time. As far as my mom's concerned, I've only applied to one school.
  5. I doubt we'll hear until the first or second week of March. But please do post whatever you hear from the admissions folks. I'm really eager to hear from GSPP.
  6. The acceptance letter shows up there, and I think that's the only document that's available electronically.
  7. It's just the applyyourself online application page. If you sign it, it should say something like "Status CCAS-3 - Application Under Review." Once a decision has been reached (or a week or two after you receive the decision email) it changes to CCAS-4. Then a couple days after that there is a link at the bottom to a standard letter saying that you were actually admitted. Then sometime after that (I'm not there yet), you receive the official letter, which supposedly has funding info. You will almost definitely receive an email from the school well before the status is updated, so I wouldn't check it twice a day or anything.
  8. I feel the same way! It seems to be a common theme, actually (there's a whole thread about this very topic in the "decisions, decisions" forum). I've come to the realization that I will just be a nervous wreck until April 15, at which point I'll probably start worrying that I've made the wrong choice, etc.
  9. For what it's worth, I can now access the letter on the website. It's pretty anti-climactic, though (read: no mention of funding  ).
  10. Also, if you're applying to all the top schools, you might at well add Princeton WWS to your list. It looks like you've done about everything you can to put yourself in a good position for admission. Now all you can do is write a good SOP and wait and see.
  11. Traveler, it is all in jest. That is, until I get my rejection letter, at which point I will blame it all on you.
  12. ....and traveler is a mole sent to blend in with our neurotic little community, only to test us with an innocuous statement about an email from the admissions department...at which point we all go down in flames.
  13. Yeah, today. It probably means that I only got full tuition remission and stipend, but no car or lobster.
  14. When you get accepted to GSPP, we can trade...but only if it comes with a generous funding package too.
  15. Yes. From everything I've seen, Eliot has not sent out decisions yet.
  16. I'm applying to similar masters programs as definitelymaybe. In September of last year I scheduled a meeting with someone in the admissions department of a school that prides itself on its quantitative focus. When I told her my GRE quant score, she said I had a good chance and suggested that the school looks at the GRE Q to make sure students will be able to excel in the math and econ classes. So even within a field and degree level, the amount of weight put on the GRE can vary.
  17. My status finally changed to "CCAS4-A decision on your application has been made," but there's no "decision status" link. Grrrrr... Did anyone else receive the email about the GW admitted students day? I hope we receive info about the GPPI visit day before too long so we can coordinate. I think GW wanted an RSVP by March 6.
  18. Nice. Would that be for the summer before school starts?
  19. That's exactly like me! Although I finished one class short of the English major. I switched to an econ major (from a minor) my last semester and squeezed in six classes to get it done. Actually, if I hadn't taken calc as an undeclared freshman, I wouldn't have been able to make the switch. I ended up with a pretty solid lineup (for policy school): intermediate micro and macro, calc and stats.
  20. I've been making all my plans around GSPP, figuring out where I'm going to intern in the Bay area and where I want to work after graduation. (Berkeley's still a long shot, but I've convinced myself I'm getting in.) It definitely takes the pressure off of the WWS decision, though. If I somehow get into both GSPP and WWS, I'm going to have a serious crisis, albeit an enviable one. By the way, is mail being delivered today, or can I stop checking the mail every 15 minutes for my GW official acceptance letter?
  21. After having already submitted about 2/3 of my applications, I noticed that below my name I had written "SSN #..." That's right, social security number number. Ugh.
  22. Look at all the anxiety you're stirring up, traveler.
  23. sosh, how do you like LBJ? I had a co-worker who went there and urged me to apply. What's your policy focus? Do you like the faculty?
  24. Sounds like a great backbone for your statement of purpose (which is required at all schools). The SOP is a great place to tie all your experience into a coherent narrative and let the schools know why you're pursuing the degree.
  25. Wow! Congratulations, traveler. I can only assume the holdup with our GW packages involves the school putting together our massive funding offers.
