  1. Update: I got a response from my department and they nominated me for the GRA position.
  2. Yes! I got accepted into my doctoral program February 17th and interviewed the following week for a graduate research assistant position. The interview went very well and I was confident I had the job. When I hadn’t heard back in a month, I emailed the director to get an update and she never even responded. I’m unsure whether another candidate was chosen, there are delays in the interviewing process, or the position isn’t available anymore. I don’t want to bother her since things are hectic with COVID19, but I don’t know if I’m even going to school now. I can’t afford to attend without funding. I wish I just knew what was going on. This. Is. A. Disaster.
  3. Hello beautiful people! ?☀️ I have a question regarding funding. I got accepted into the DrPh program at Penn State’s College of Medicine and I’m waiting to hear back about the departmental GRA position available. It’s been a couple weeks and I haven’t heard back, so I am assuming someone else was chosen. For all of those that got accepted into their program, how are you planning on funding your degree? I’m looking to apply for any external and internal funding opportunities that will allow me to pursue my degree.
  4. Did you get an assistantship and if so when did they get back to you with an offer? I had an interview in late February and haven’t heard back yet.

    PhD Funding

I applied for a doctoral program and there is only one position available for a graduate research assistant. Does anyone have any other ideas for external funding? I have a strong feeling there’s limited internal funding opportunities at the university other than that one departmental position.
  6. Question: Did either school get back to you about funding or graduate research assistant positions?
  7. I attend Penn State University and have lived in Pittsburgh most of my life; however, I am not in the same department as you. I can’t comment on your specific programming, but I can tell you about the campus environment. University of Pittsburgh is in the center of Oakland, and with a large college base, there is a lot of activities to do. If you like city life and campus life, you’ll probably like living in Pittsburgh. The university library (cathedral) is also beautiful and the best for late night study groups. Penn State (Harrisburg and Hershey) are smaller campuses, have less students, but still are nice campuses. They give a more college feel, where as the Pittsburgh campus is simply Oakland. Probably less ideal to live at Penn State if you do not have a car. Whatever else you want to ask me, I’m here! Good luck in choosing!
  8. I applied to the DrPh program and am waiting to hear back about a GRA position. Has anyone else heard back?
