  1. Not sure what specific programs you mean, but Yeshiva's Clinical Psych PhD program just completed their official interviews today and yesterday
  2. School: Yeshiva University Type: Clinical Psychology PhD Date of invite: 1/19/21 Type of invite: Mass email from admissions Interview dates: 2/9 and 2/10 DM for POI: Yes
  3. Personally I think this all sounds great! I had a brief zoom chat with a PI I emailed before applying, and I expected to talk more about my interests/experience, but she prefaced everything by saying she already knows I'd be a good fit for her lab from my CV so she wanted to focus more on talking about her current projects. So I would guess that since your PI did not have any questions about your interests/experience, they already feel pretty confident about them. It sounds like you all just let the conversation flow wherever it naturally headed, so I wouldn't overthink about what things you didn't get to bring up. If they had concerns or hesitations, they would've addressed them. Congrats!
  4. I looked through the invitations for UF from last year, and it seems like it's a mass email. I'm assuming personally that it means I'm out of the race for them. It also looks like last year they notified people of being on the waitlist for interviews or being rejected within a couple days of everyone getting their interview invitations.
  5. Oh thank you for sharing! Still seems hard to separate the two from each other due to the pretty intrinsic overlap. I will probably focus more on specific education, research/clinical skills, future research goals, and match with my potential mentor for the Statement of Purpose. I don't really have personal hardships I've overcome that are relevant to the personal history statement, so I will probably focus on more anecdotal things I have learned from working with specific patients and their families through my job, my experience working to expand diversity/equity/inclusion in my job, and tie in how unique work experiences like this can contribute to what I offer as a student. Not sure if that'll go so well but guess we'll see!
  6. I'm applying with about 2.5 years of full time experience after college and 1 year of college part-time experience
  7. I am! I honestly still don't fully understand the different expectations between the statement of purpose and personal history statement because this is the only school that I've had request both separately. I haven't been able to find more information on their website to distinguish significantly between the two. Especially since their prompt for the statement of purpose specifically says to discuss your background and research experiences. So definitely struggling and procrastinating lol
  8. I've applied before and am applying again and usually have around 15 that fit pretty well with my interests, and then that narrows down to around 10 once I learn what PIs are actually accepting students that cycle. In my experience the best way to gauge how competitive each program is is by looking at their provided admissions data from recent cohorts to see how many applicants they usually have, as well as the average GRE/GPA of their admitted students. Some schools I like have closer to 100-200 applicants and lower score averages, and some have closer to 700 applicants with higher score averages. I think having a working relationship with one of the professors would be an advantage because they will already know the quality of your work, know how well you get along with others, and you'd clearly have relevant experiences for their lab.
  9. Anybody have experience with video chatting with a PI you emailed? Reached out to a PI to express interest, ask if they're taking a student, and ask about current and upcoming projects. PI emailed back and offered to video chat about their research, and I'm wondering how these calls have gone for people before. Very excited, and want to be prepared for anything that might come up!
