I can only access internationals MPP/MPA and domestics A-K. Wouldn't read too much into it considering I'm an international MPA/ID applicant and can't access that one... -

I wonder if the high amount of replies in this thread is a result of a high number of applications from grad cafe users, or if HKS's system just leads to a lot of speculation that inevitably generates discussion. This is already the the thread with the most replies on the Government Affairs front page and decisions aren't even out yet. -

Looking at last year's thread, people noticed changes in the MYFAID portal and everyone immediately started freaking out, results came out the same day. In fact, the change was the exact same one we're seeing today: Could this finally be it? -

HKS Blog Posts are usually sent at around 10:48 Boston time, so maybe soon? -

At the top of this page click on Results and look up Yale Development And nice to see someone else here that applied to the ID program! Almost everyone else is an MPA/MPP candidate. -

My career has generally been Latin America focused, but the past couple of years have been specifically centered around my small country in the region. I wasn't interviewed for any fellowships but I also didn't apply to any of the ones that had an interview stage. -

This is actually really encouraging, thanks! How'd you find out about the deferrals? That kinda explains why almost no one got admitted in the GC results page. And yeah, I've been really lucky with my applications. Got admitted into the LSE MPA (which has a development track but nowhere near as quant/econ intensive as the MPA/ID), IHEID International Economics, SAIS MIEF and Barcelona GSE for Development. Probably going to IHEID if HKS doesn't work out, they've got pretty solid placements into IFIs. Did you also apply to the MPA/ID? -

I think it's normal for MPA/ID applicants, probably not for the others. Seems to be the only program in HKS that didn't waive the requirement, and they expect you to be scoring above the 75th percentile. -

Haha I'm trying to keep my hopes low because I do have things working against me (ok GPA that probably isn't up to HKS standards, not bad by any means but not impressive either; very few econ courses and a B in one of them; haven't worked in the WB/IDB/J-PAL/etc like most of the people I see with an MPA/ID degree on linkedin). Also I got rejected by the Yale IDE yesterday so who knows.. Yeah: PUBLIC POLICY ESSAY Describe a public policy or public management problem related to international development and analyze a range of solutions. (750 word limit) They asked for four essays total (and I wrote 2 more for the financial aid app) which I thought was a lot, especially considering no other program I applied to asked for more than one. But hey, I've been wanting to get into the MPA/ID for a very long time and I still haven't found another program like it in the world so hope it was worth it. -

168 GRE Q score (169 V), did not work for a developmental org but did work in financial policy (through a third party org, not directly in a legislative body) and tried to angle it in that direction. Didn't do quant heavy stuff in college (still not sure if my political science background might affect me negatively) but afterwards did take multivariate calc, linear algebra, and real analysis (through Harvard Extension, not sure how they perceive that. Some say it's good some say it's worthless ?♂️ I personally thought the classes felt exactly like normal college classes, except online). SOP is good, I think my policy analysis essay is very, very strong. Didn't get to read LORs but I don't have a reason to think they weren't strong. I guess we'll find out tomorrow or next week... -

As one of the very few people applying to the MPA/ID in this forum, this sucks. Hope it doesn't affect my chances too much... -

This was such a huge source of confusion for me early on in the application cycle lol -

This is super insightful, thanks! Weird that I've only seen concern about deferrals in the HKS thread... -
Johns Hopkins SAIS 2021

https://sais.jhu.edu/academics/degree-programs/master-degrees/master-international-economics-and-finance-mief/employment In the private sector there's like 3 or 4 recognizable names and half the companies are Chinese, and in the multilateral sector they only placed into the IMF (and I have no idea how many students placed in there, nor whether it's an internship, a short term consultant gig or an actual staff role) whereas before I remember they used to place into the World Bank and IDB. Not to mention a 79% employment rate isn't ideal (but, again, these results come during a global pandemic so maybe it's actually really good? idk) -
Depends on the multilateral org that you want. IHEID and SIPA would probably be best for the UN due to their locations, while SAIS has a better network with the development banks. Try to look at the placement info for each of the schools and think about which one's median placement you'd feel most comfortable with.

I got accepted into the MIEF with some aid. I was under the impression that this was the SAIS program with the best placements but looking at the new list of outcomes they seem kinda lackluster, idk. Maybe I shouldn't judge it too harshly considering the outcomes are for 2020 and everyone probably struggled with getting hired in the middle of a pandemic. -
Rejected at Yale IDE. Pretty disappointing but somewhat expected, seems like they don't like people without an econ background. Only HKS MPA/ID left and this result kinda made me lose a bit of confidence there...

They seem to always release results on a Thursday. On today's email they said "Harvard Kennedy School continues to be hard at work reviewing admission and financial aid applications. But we’re in the final stretch—decisions will be released in late March." The phrasing doesn't seem to indicate that they're coming next week, so that just leaves the 25th -

Today's admissions blog seems to confirm that offers will go out on the 25th. That's disappointing, I was still holding on to the possibility that they would come out next week. -

Is there merit-based financial aid that they give out beyond the fellowships in the financial aid application? Like, if you didn't apply to any specific scholarships but submitted the financial aid app, are you still eligible for some financial aid?
