Claiming a rejection at Princeton!

I was interviewed at Duke and there's nothing on my portal.

I agree. There's little to gain in contacting faculty to frantically ask when results are coming out ("soon", they'll reply) and it might make you look a bit desperate (which, to be fair, we are).

Unfortunately, given that it would be an informal admission, there's just now way of knowing for sure.

The results page is mostly comprised of trolls these days, don’t take it too seriously.

From what I could gather, it seems the NYU admit was an informal email from a POI, not from the DGS, so you’re not necessarily rejected if you haven’t heard from NYU. In the case of Princeton, yeah, I think silence = rejection.

I sure hope so!

I see no reason to only send e-mails to applicants of a particular subfield.

Has the ApplyWeb portal changed for any of you?

Sadly, that is probably the case, considering both of them got the email at the same time. Still, plenty of other decisions pending, don’t lose hope :))

I would advise against it. As per the FAQ, they have the entirety of February to get back to us. Princeton: Q. When are admission decisions announced? A. A: The department will contact you by email no later than March 1, usually by mid-February. I know. Even if it wasn't a clear troll, I just won't believe anything posted at the results page until it is confirmed here.

Apparently someone posted yet another acceptance at Berkeley. If we were to judge by the results page, UC Berkeley would have a cohort of just about 40 this year...

I believe the posted results are false. We've had numerous trolls this cycle and it's very uncommon for results to be out during the weekends.

As far as we know, there are no public acceptances at UCSD yet. Perhaps they will come tomorrow. It wasn’t just you that didn’t get in, so far there have been over 30 applicants rejected, some extremely qualified, and no acceptances. You shouldn’t feel bad just because you didn’t get in at a particular program. The application process is very idiosyncratic and hard to predict: I thought that I had a great fit at UCSD and had already talked to some faculty, but I guess it wasn’t meant to be. Nonetheless, I had a few pleasant surprises this cycle, with some interviews in places I didn’t expect to get in. Don’t lose hope yet.
