Is under program review the good one or bad? I can’t remember
-
It did! It’s under program review lol
-
Haha Yep! Maybe we’ll be there together. Fingers crossed!!
-
I’ve just given up hope....? I wanted to study with Michael Hofmann so badly...but I heard someone was waitlisted in Poetry at U Florida the other day...first time I cried tears over applications.
-
Hollins, Purdue, FSU, LSU lol I’m in the same boat...it’s agony.
-
Congratulations!! I did a happy dance for you! I was soooo hoping you would get an offer that also had funding! Woohoo!
-
Hey Friends! I dropped off gradcafe for awhile...still continue to check draft pretty regularly because I could not completely be rid of my addiction to checking results, but I'm back here to hangout until I freak out again. haha Condolences to everyone that has gotten a rejection so far...hang in there! It is not the end of your writing, only the beginning. Congratulations to those who have received acceptances! So very happy for you!! I feel like next week is going to be a big week! Someone said on draft that the university of florida will be notifying folks next week...ahhh It is definitely at the top of my list because of faculty I want to work with. I haven't gotten a rejection from Hollins yet which has put me in a state of sheer anxiety...lol I guess that is just a welcome to the club around here.
-
Yikes...I submitted it so long ago...why am I not being reviewed? ? Anxiety is real right now. When did your status change?
-
My application just says "application complete (active)" It said that from the beginning though. It hasn't changed. What does that mean?! haha
-
Congratulations!!! So happy for you!

I applied in poetry, and I'm also anxiously waiting...This year has already been so weird...It's hard to tell when we will hear back.
-
Yes! We have some super kind and supportive people here aside from a persistent troll that keeps making accounts only to be banned from the forum again....anyway, aside from that haha, it's a swell place to commiserate. I've heard good things about all those programs! I hope they get back to you soon!
-
Welcome! It's an excellent place to wait. What are you applying for? I wish you the best of luck!

Yea, I transferred to a senior college as well after getting my prereqs. I got a full scholarship for being a transfer student because I did well in community college, and that was invaluable. There are more resources at a University, but it can be super helpful for financing an education by getting prereqs done at a community college. As you said, the prereqs are pretty much the same everywhere. From my experience, there were more scholarships available by taking that route, but I don't know how that varies from state to state. God, I wish education was more affordable...

I got my A.A at an excellent community college, and if it wasn't for my creative writing professor at that college, I would not be a writer today. She is the one who signed me up for creative writing courses, encouraged me to submit my work to journals, and together we started a monthly spoken word event at local bookstores and coffee shops for the public. I've been writing since I learned how to write and read, but I never thought I could actually study or pursue creative writing. My parents never read my work and refused to because they didn't want to encourage me in a "fantasy" according to my father. My parents always wanted me to become an engineer or doctor, and it wasn't till the creative writing professor showed interest in my writing that I started to believe that just maybe I could pursue what is the only thing that has ever made me happy. It saddens me that people talk so badly of community college. For many people, it's all they can afford.

Yea, my username is easy to figure out from my name on FB haha.

Thank you! I think every college I applied to this year is super competitive haha...There's always next year though if this year ends up not working out. That was my plan. First year, apply to super competitive programs, and the next year I'm going to broaden my search to less competitive programs.
-
Yep, just got my first rejection...Not a great feeling, but I'm trying to stay hopeful.
-
Haha Yea, I was on the edge of my seat. This is why I don't like draft, but I'm also addicted to it...I can't stop checking for new posts.
-
I think the waitlist is the girl from yesterday in draft who said she was first on the list. I'm not sure about the other acceptance though.
-
It's got a great faculty, and it's fully-funded. I had a friend who got her MFA in fiction over there, and she loved it.
-
Someone in fiction got accepted at OSU today in Draft. I'm guessing they sent out all the poetry acceptances yesterday? If so, I'm either waiting to be waitlisted or my first rejection...gearing myself up for it.
-
This is my plan too. haha
-
I'll probably start doing that when I start hearing that the colleges I applied for are notifying people. lol But I understand, the anxiety is real...
