    I am going to copy and paste a post I made on Reddit. I’m hoping maybe one of you might be able to help me figure out where my interpretation has gone wrong. Hello all, For my fellow Canadian PhD students, I hope you received either good news or useable feedback to improve your CGSD applications. My results were somewhat confusing and even my supervisor who has received some form of CIHR funding for about 30 years couldn’t understand it, nor could other graduate students who have applied and won CIHR CGSD in the past. Therefore, I am reaching out to you internet strangers for some feedback. To start, my application was “not approved.” Both reviewers were complimentary, with no real feedback to strengthen my application. I scored 4.3/4.9 on my reviews. In my pool my application ranked #115, and in the bottom right of the decision letter it indicates in my pool, 115 applications were approved. Can someone with more experience chime in on how I must be interpreting these results inaccurately? Thank you

    Anyone heard from Queen’s post interview? I know they mentioned their clinical faculty interviews would be mid-February so getting a bit nervous, but don’t want to bother my PI over it.

    Has anyone applied to and heard back from Regina by chance? Small school, so the likelihood of someone on here having applied is slim I imagine. I applied to a handful of schools this year and have received interviews or other feedback from all of them except Regina.

    Interviewed at Queen's on Thursday. He indicated I should know in the next few weeks whether I am on to the next stage.

    Quick question for anyone more familiar with CGS-M. Do your references have to have a PhD? TL;DR Can a senior graduate student be one of your CGS-M references? For context; I used two professors for my school applications, one who has been my lab supervisor for many years and another who taught a class I did extremely well in. I know this is the norm for school applications, two professors. For CGS-M, I feel my application would be stronger if my second reference is the senior PhD student from the lab I work in. This senior PhD is currently doing his pre-doctoral residency, so won't have his PhD until the spring. He is the one who has supervised me more so than anyone, and I feel he can attest to my experimental and publication abilities better than the professor whose class I did well in. I am a third author on his papers and he was the second author on my only current first authorship. Thanks in advance to anyone that takes the time to offer an opinion.
