Heads up all - there's a Cornell poetry acceptance this evening in draft!!! I'm currently having a heart attack in class, if they make us wait an extra week for fiction responses I will opt out of this whole process *cries*

Hey, out of curiosity has anyone heard about any finding cuts yet? I just saw on draft that Ohio State messed up BIG TIME in offering fellowships they couldn't deliver on, I was just wondering if anywhere else was reacting similarly. I heard rumors about UMass too but I just don't know for sure.

I did kind of the same thing with the privacy waiver for the recommendations, luckily I only made the mistake on my application for UVA but it probably looked so shady when I didn't waive my right. One of my recommenders corrected me, she said it won't make or break but it would certainly always look better if you're forthcoming. I feel like such an idiot lol

Thanks! I knew about this guy but I didn't suspect at first. Update: my conspiracy theory was wrong, I got denied from UMass this morning! Not upset at all (it was one of the programs I waned the least) but if anyone is looking for a waitlist it seems they went out and nobody has updated with them. 0a/0w/1r/9p

I think you're probably right about the interviews tbh, I'm just holding onto hope that getting this email early meant something. (A waitlist, God willing.) I'll likely know by tomorrow - any later would just be ridiculous at this point - so I'll report back! PS I totally agree, their notification choices were a mess ?

Hey guys, I think I can be of some assistance! I also applied to UMass, did not get an interview, but I did receive an email early this morning (1 AM-ish) telling me that they had a decision for me and to check the portal. My portal since has not changed from "Update Pending" and I have left several voicemails and emails. From what I can gather from a post of mine on Draft, people are in three boats right now: 1) there has been no email, and the status is "Under Review", 2) there has been no email, and the status is "Update Pending", and 3) there has been an email and the status is "Update Pending". The consensus seems to be that there is a mixed bag of interviewed applicants and flat-out acceptances so it's a toss-up. My conspiracy theory is that I'm on the waitlist because of the advance email that not a ton of other people got, but they could also be notifying people alphabetically of rejection. Either way I'm fully prepared for either outcome and ready to GET THIS OVER WITH Hope this helps ❤️

Thought you would all find this funny considering I'm waiting for a call from UMass AND Rutgers today, my phone rang from an NJ number and I had to compose myself for a moment before I picked up. It was a "your car's extended warranty" call. Let me skip to the end credits, please.

I just saw, and now I'm sweating. I'm a Camden County native, I'm really hoping to hear soon. They don't offer very much information on cohort/class size, but I know they only took seven students from BOTH genres combined last year.

I spoke to her in the comments of the Draft post, she said that she did have an interview and that based on her conversation in the phone call she got the impression that they were spreading out interviews and acceptances. However the same night another girl also got an acceptance for fiction so I don't know, and there is already a poetry acceptance floating out there

Draft says we've got two Umass calls for acceptances, one for fiction and one for poetry. My portal has not been updated with an a/w/r so I'm not sure if they're getting through calls first or what.

Amen to that, I'm trying not to go stir-crazy waiting. I did a tarot spread (I'm a somewhat intermediate diviner, working towards becoming more advanced) addressing my first response and it didn't look favorable, but prompted me to keep my head up because positivity is coming afterwards! UMass would probably be that first response so... I can't say I'm surprised XD

It is fully funded!! Although I did hear somewhere about a month ago that with all the COVID stuff happening the funding might be more limited than in other years, but here's hoping thank you

Hi there! First time commenter, long time lurker on this thread. I was wondering, has anyone heard from UMass yet? I saw a few days ago that someone had posted they'd gotten an interview and based on past responses it seems late january-early february is when we should be hearing. I'm losing my mind over here.
