I emailed them for a second update and they replied with that ambiguous response a week later. Seems to imply the possibility of a waitlist. All rejections seem to come out in mid-March based on last year's results.

UCLA Admissions Update (1/27/21 9:22 AM): "Thanks for your patience in my response! You are correct in the timeline for the admissions process. However, applications are still held on to by the committee and if there is any changes to the status of your application, our program will reach out to you with an update." I do not know what to make of this. Any thoughts?

Yes, I was told something similar by a current UCLA neuroscience graduate student: "UCLA requires (this year) responses from all interviewees by January 18th, and their interview process is occurring Feb. 28th - March 1st."

I am planning to email them again if I do not hear anything by tomorrow afternoon. Last time I emailed them on January 11th, they said: "Thank you for your email and for your application! Currently applications are still be reviewed for the NSIDP program. We will contact you directly with any updates regarding your application and status." Edit: I got impatient and just emailed them right now (1:00 PM PST). I will post their reply as my UCLA neurograd student contact from Reddit still has not replied to my request for an an admissions update.

I reached out to my contact in the UCLA neuroscience graduate department again and asked if the January 18th interview invitation deadline has been extended. I will update here if they reply. Also, here are the compiled UC Neuro acceptance stats from the last 3 years if anyone is interested and has not seen them yet:

I would suggest emailing the committee and they should tell you if you have been rejected. I did a few days ago and they recently told me they could not offer me an interview this cycle.

I believe they received 1.5-2x the typical number of applicants this cycle. Don't quote me on that, but I have definitely heard this is the case for other UCLA graduate departments and for neuroscience graduate programs at other universities this year.

I emailed UCLA neuroscience admissions on 1/11/21 and they replied with this message.

I just schedule sent an email for 8 AM tomorrow to UCSD and UCLA admissions to ask if all interview invitations have already been sent.

I heard there might be a second round of emails sent out this week or next from a current UCSD biomedical grad. student. They also mentioned the second batch of emails might depend on how many individuals decline the first round of interview invitations (I can't imagine why anyone would barring a conflict with another higher priority program). I am hoping more invites are sent out as well since I already received a UCSF invite, but also attended UCSD as an undergrad.

RIP, no invite from UCSD. Congratulations to everyone who received invites today though. A past cognitive science professor of mine told me UCSD has a bias against interviewing/admitting their own undergrads. I should have listened lol.
