Hi! I also have group interviews tomorrow where multiple applicants are in the meeting with one PI but they are only 20 minutes long so I'm also wondering how this is going to work.
I loved the program when I applied but I'm feeling the same way now. I'm coming straight from undergrad and it seemed like they very rarely take students straight out. I also don't like the way their scholarship system and two different deadlines work. The general consensus I got from the grad school panel was that it's up to you to find funding/not vert straight forward, and that it's really common for them to need lot of loans.
For anyone going to UNC's virtual visit tomorrow, how, if at all, are you preparing? I'm not sure if we will have many chances to talk with faculty or if it's more of just an information session. I got the itinerary they emailed today and saw that there are program breakout sessions but I'm not sure what these entail.
I'm not at an ivy it's a public school, but It's hanging on the wall behind me in my room and it's not too big. I definitely see what you're saying though. Thanks for the feedback!
I have a flag of my current undergrad school in the background for my Zoom calls would this be helpful to keep up for interviews? I'm at a top ten university now and I think it could be helpful for faculty to remember me better and be able to visually connect my face to my resume but I'm wondering if there is any potential reason not to do this. I had it up when I met with a current student from a school psych PhD program and it ended up being super helpful because she knew a professor that I was interested in that works in my home state and told me to reach out to her and mention that I knew her since she had previously worked with her. Any thoughts are appreciated!
I haven't heard anything specific. I was planning to email them at the end of the week and ask when we should expect to receive the zoom link and if we'll be given an itinerary or know which faculty members we'll be speaking with.
Has anyone heard back from UC Riverside? I saw someone post today that they received an email to interview so I'm wondering if that was a formal invite from the department or just a prelim interview.
Hi! PI is SF. I emailed PI's at most of the schools I applied to but UGA was actually one of the programs I did not have contact with anyone at before I applied. Which PI did you apply to for UGA? I'm pretty sure every PI sends informal interviews at different times/days (at least that's what I'm hoping because I saw a few people got emails from UVA too and I haven't heard back from them either). UGA was the first school I've heard anything from.
Has anyone else not heard back from any schools yet? I know it's still early but I've seen a ton of people hearing back from clinical programs so maybe school programs just take longer? I applied to these schools and as far as I know only UCSB has sent out invites.
