  1. I'm not sure if this is also helpful to anyone (I assume it's not safe to post the school name either), but I also recommend googling news stories about the campuses you're interested in. I recently came across one department where a student committed suicide due to alleged bullying that was not handled and led to tragedy. I don't think it came up in my initial search.

  3. Hey everyone. Is there anyone here who typically applies to US clinical psych programs but is intending or has applied to one or two in Canada and has any advice or resources? I am from the US. Thanks!
  4. For anyone following this thread, there's currently a discord where we are all gearing up and sharing tips for applying this cycle! https://discord.gg/3HuxeBKy
  5. Is there anyone here who has gotten project/program coordinator experience and not RA experience but has had success in getting into a clinical psych PhD program? Especially this past cycle? Would love any advice.
  6. Hi all! Was wondering if those who are familiar with job hunting can post the sites or threads they use to search for CRC or RA jobs, especially at different institutions? I have heard of academic twitter, but if anyone is familiar with where companies and universities typically post jobs, I think it would be really helpful for a lot of us who are going to be rejected this year. Thanks!
  7. I'm sorry you're in the same boat. If you ever have time, I would love any advice around getting an RA job, even remotely. Those types of jobs are non-existent near me or require being enrolled as a student. I'm really nervous about making income while I go through this whole process again....good luck to you through this though.
  8. 5 interviews and officially rejected from 4 ? let's goooooo I don't know how to survive another year of this y'all. To get so close and still fail is the worst feeling in the world.
  9. This is great info. I'm being told by my faculty to include some counseling PhD programs in my apps next year since this whole clinical process has gotten insane, but I wasn't sure where the differences lie. I'm still waitlisted for two programs, but I recieved five interviews this year and not a single acceptance which is apparently unheard of in my department....
  10. Can anyone who accepted at either U of South Dakota or Miami U PM me your PI? I'm currently waitlisted for both. I would super appreciate it.
  11. So has no one heard from U of Tulsa post interview? Super weird.
  12. Can anyone provide something of a template to email the DCT in regards to waitlist status? Would super appreciate it! Also, I assume the DCT would be the appropriate person to email...
  13. *Email notification on my phone* Me: oh my god oh my god *opens email* "Dear XXX, Please find your decision letter attached." Me: is literally dying inside, opens the PDF letter "Dear XXX, We are happy to inform you of your selection as an alternate-" .....screams thank you for coming to my TED talk
  14. Thanks for the advice, I will reach out once I recieve official rejections. I thought all of my interviews went fairly well but compared to the other amazing applicants I met on interview days, just not well enough I guess. I've tried not to be self defeating for weeks now but the bad feelings are starting to implode.
  15. A bunch of people have given up their acceptances to my PI and yet I still haven't been reached out to. I know I'm a terrible interviewer but its incredibly sad that I'm at the bottom of the list. I can't believe I got a ton of interviews only to not get accepted anywhere. I'm feeling for everyone in the same boat right now.
  16. It's looking grim for me folks. I remember someone sharing a resource for RA positions around the country, or something of the sort as post-grad advice for those who don't get in this cycle but still need a job. Can anyone share those resources if they have them?
  17. Anyone have any advice for not freaking out post-interviews? I'm not a very good interviewer. I recieved 5 interviews this cycle and I honestly don't think I'm going to be first choice for any of these programs I just really don't want to have to go through this whole process again next year.
  18. I saw someone was accepted to one of the programs I interviewed at (Miami U). Does the DCT usually send out acceptance emails or are they usually sent out by the PI? And are acceptances usually sent out at the same time across faculty? I'm already getting bummed out.
  19. Over a week for both. I guess if it's not too late I'll send them one ? but I'll keep this in mind for my other ones. Thanks!
  20. Honestly didn't occur to me ??‍♀️ If anything I would assume I'd be bugging them and I'm not sure it would have any impact on their decision anyways.
  21. I'm over here not having sent any thank you emails to my interviewers ???
  22. I'm pretty sure that's the standard message programs send when they extend an invite. Stuff about feel free to ask questions, etc. I almost never do unless it's about a specific issue that the secretary can answer, usually because I can ask what I need to on interview day or some of my questions will be answered during the day's presentations. I'm not sure how other people do it, but I avoid asking the PI interview-related questions beforehand unless I've been invited to an informal interview. They're not immediately important and I don't want to waste their time outside of interview day. If someone typically does do this though, I hope they answer you. Also, stuff about the program, clinical training, etc. I consider to be interview day questions. Edit: let me edit to add that I doubt your PI is going to think you're uninterested just because you don't ask a question before interview day. You might be over thinking it
  23. I'm not sure what's worse, seeing all of these rejections, or starting to see acceptances from the place you interviewed at.
  24. I think that's a really good question....I would assume that they would hold you to a similar standard, but your answers should be less "here's what I did" and more "here's what I got out of these experiences and how I will use them in the lab/program". Most of the time, even if you are familiar with them, there isn't space for these reflections in lab meetings, so I assume this would be your opportunity to clearly state what these experiences have done for you and how you'll use them going forward.
