For those who were accepted or waitlisted into UWindsor's MSWwp advanced standing program, my status change date is now a different date, is this a good sign or is there still a chance I could be rejected from the program? I hope this is a good sign. This is my second year applying and I already did not get into Waterloo or McMaster.

Hi there, I’m not certain but I don’t think it’s a bad sign that your status changed twice! My status changed to “In Process” on January 14 and then again on February 11 (still “In Process”) before receiving my official offer by email on March 7. I hope that’s helps!
For anyone who may be on the waitlist, I declined my offer to Windsor’s MSWwp last Friday so I hope that opens up a spot for someone!

I'm curious who will accept as well, excited to see who our peers will be! I'm waiting on Laurier but pretty sure I'll be accepting Waterloo. How about you?

I have accepted my offer at UW! If someone were to create a Facebook or Discord group I would be happy to join!

I recieved an acceptance to Waterloo, does anyone know how to view the letter? I can see the conditions and where to accept/ decline but that's it

Edit: I googled it and I dont have the option on Quest, it says it should be available within 24-48 hrs of a decision being made. Can anyone confirm that they did recieve a letter?

Congratulations! I received my acceptance on Quest yesterday morning and then when I checked again last night saw the option to view the letter.

I figure if I get into this program, I'll take time off again after it to figure out if I even want/ need to go back to school again!

I'm (obviously lol) really hoping I get in so that it can help me figure out what kind of path I want to take, whether that be an MSW, MPH, or whatever else :)

ok! I applied to both, I would prefer to go to Orillia given that its much closer to home, but if I get in at Thunder Bay, I'll definitely go there!

I know we still have a month and a bit until we hear back but waiting is brutal, especially in regards to planning for possible having to relocate/ jobs and stuff. I'm really looking forward to when we get answers!

Hi there! I'm a current student in the one-year HBSW at Lakehead with a Bachelor of Public Health degree and wanted to chime in. I remember being on the fence too about whether or not to pursue a MPH and am so happy I did the HBSW program because it really helped me figure out which path I wanted to take - I applied for advanced standing MSW programs for Fall 2022 and found out I got in!

My placement is at a community health centre and my program manager who has her MPH said that being a part of a regulatory body (i.e., OCSWSSW) will open more opportunities. If you have any questions please feel free to reach out and I will answer them the best I can.

    Good luck to everyone!

    Anyone else heard from Waterloo?

No not yet... I emailed them yesterday and they said that they have started to post their decisions on each applicant's Quest but the process continues over several days. They hope that by next week all their decisions will be posted and said to continue checking Quest. ?

I emailed Windsor on Tuesday asking for an update and was told the same thing.  They also said: "At this time, the Office of Graduate Studies is dealing with a large volume of files which has caused delays in our processing timeline and do not have an estimate when the applicants will be notified. When an admission decision is made, it will be notified you by email."

That's good to know, thank you for sharing!

I also wanted to say that my status just changed today but is still "In Process"... hopefully that means they're moving along!

Just to update everyone, I heard back from Mswwp today. Unfortunately I didn’t receive the acceptance that I was hoping to. Over the past few hours I have been stressing about it, as I thought I stood a chance this year.

for my stats: I had an 85 GPA and 3000 hours of experience.

Oh no, I'm sorry to hear that! Did they provide any feedback for the next time?

I wonder if this year is more competitive since they switched to being an online program...

Hey I was just wondering if anyone has heard back recently from the MSWWP program from university of windsor?

anxiously waiting to hear back because I applied two months ago and they have rolling admissions.

I didn't submit my documents until December 15th but am checking 24/7 it feels like to see if my status has changed to at least "in process" lol... the waiting game is brutal ?

Thanks @HBSW2021 that is very helpful! How have you found the program so far?

I've found the program to be great but intense for sure- hence the late reply (SO sorry!). Most of the profs are great and I like how the HBSW program is viewed positively by other schools since I am applying to advanced standing MSW programs for next year. There are a lot of assignments but I feel I have gained a solid foundation and am glad I went this route. Please let me know if you have any other questions and I can try to answer them the best I can! ?

Hi all. Does anyone know how the Lakehead BSW program went this year? Was it online or in person?

Hey! If you're referring to the one-year HBSW I'm currently in the program now and it's online! However, the MSW program at Lakehead is currently in-person and it's likely that the HBSW will return to on-campus next year. I hope that helps!

Mine looks the exact same! I wonder if it's because the system isn't used to courses only being 2 weeks long, so it thinks they're all happening concurrently? I also tried out that "proof of enrolment" form to test whether it's registering that I signed up for all 4 courses, and it's considering me a part time student despite signing up for all 4...

I really want Madge to email us lol I want answers for all of this!!!

Hey! Just wanted to post an update regarding this as Student Central finally got back to me. They said, "Typically during our Spring/Summer terms, students will reflect as part-time in our system as they would pay part-time fees during this time period. However, for academic purposes, for students who are registered in 2 FCEs or more are considered full-time. I understand that the Enrolment Verification Letter through the myInfo portal may reflect "part-time" so if you need proof of full-time status, please let us know and we can provide you with an Enrolment Verification Letter that reflects your full-time status."

Has anyone else registered for their Summer 2021 courses yet? I understand we're supposed to be taking these 4 courses in the summer semester:  Social Work 1100, Social Work 2011, Social Work 2012, Social Work 3401, however when I select them all, and go to pre-register, it shows that they conflict with eachother in the timetable, even though the starting dates for these courses are staggered. Are we supposed to register for all 4 courses at once?

I'm not sure if I see what you see @Lovey1115... When I go to "View My Course Schedule/Timetable" mine says I'm registered in the four courses I think? But I just checked my Enrolment Verification/Confirmation of Enrolment Form @SocialWork123 and it says "Attendance: Part-time" as well. ?

I wonder when Madge is going to email us information. It starts in less than 2 months a other than the course registration, I feel like I'm in the dark lol!

I was thinking the same thing! Madge emailed me on April 27th and advised me to keep an eye out on some important information she will be sending out in early May and still no word! I've been checking my email constantly lol.

Hiya, does anyone know how OSAP works for this program? It starts at such a weird time in the year that I'm not sure how to go about applying for OSAP. Do we apply for 2020-2021 school year to cover Jul-Aug and reapply once 2021-2022 is available for the rest of the months?

Hey! I had the exact same question and this is what Student Central said to me: "Since your program starts before August 1, you should be completing the 2020/2021 OSAP application that is currently available. When you apply, your OSAP application will cover July 2021 - April 2022. You only need to create a single OSAP application."

    I hope this helps! ?

Nothing for me. I’ve been wondering the same thing. Would anybody be willing to share whether they’ll accept or decline and to which campus?

Also wondering if anybody knows if there were more than usual applications this year? I thought I read somewhere on the MSW forum it was the case with MSW applications?

    Good luck!?

I have accepted my offer to the Orillia campus as it was the only program I had applied to. When I asked Madge how many people had applied, she said they received 189 applications to Orillia (she didn't say for Thunder Bay) but I'm not sure if that is more than usual compared to other years.

I think after the April 30th deadline there will be movement on the waitlist. Good luck to those waiting (for this program or another)! ?
