  1. Ya im kind of like - no news is good news right?
  2. Have a good/safe move! I hope you get good news today toooooo
  3. Congrats!! I applied there but still waiting to hear back....send good vibes
  4. Maybe just give it some time. Sometimes the departments have to get approval from the graduate school etc. Out of curiosity- what are you planning to research and where did you apply?
  5. I spoke to at least one faculty member at each place that I applied to either via email, phone, or zoom. I haven’t heard back from any school about admissions yet though! Edit: Im not sure if it’s any help to connect with faculty beforehand or not because sometimes they’re not on the admissions committee so it might not make a difference. I mainly reached out for my own sake to learn more about the intricacies of the program and was able to get answers to some of my questions that weren’t available online.
  6. I second this. I think especially in PhD programs, you need to take the rankings with a grain of salt. Like yes they are relevant, but sometimes a program could be ranked say, 60th in the country but their faculty in your sub field might be top notch- which could be worth much more to you as a doctoral student. It really all depends. Either way, don’t get too bogged down on the rankings I guess
  7. I wouldn’t worry too much about the rankings- most programs are primarily concerned about fit, so sometimes a lower ranked program might not offer you admission solely on that factor. That being said- don’t rule out Albany yet- and keep your head up for the other places you applied! You got this
  8. I think anywhere from Mid-end of February up until late March probably. Will depend on the school. You could probably reach out to the graduate chair at Concordia and inquire
  9. I should probably hop on here too. I have pretty specific research interests which limited where I wanted to study/who I wanted to work with. I was really focused on fit (and I also wanted to be on the east coast). Anyway, I applied to: SUNY Buffalo, SUNY Binghamton, Syracuse, Boston University, UMass Amherst, University of Delaware, University of Florida, and University of Western Ontario. Wish me luck everyone lol ❤️
  10. I love the line up of Canadian schools in here. I only applied to Western in Canada but I love the great white north!!
  11. I second this. I'm also really invested in all of your journeys now and can't wait to see where everyone ends up!
  12. I'm in the same boat as you both. Went into my MA right after my BA, and now finishing up my MA while applying to PhDs. I feel pretty young too. Lol. Also have major imposter syndrome...
  13. Thinking maybe tomorrow? Last year a lot of admission results from BU were posted on thegradcafe on Jan 29.....Im so impatient tho lol! Def need to stop refreshing my portal/email
  14. I keep getting that too on the results page of gradcafe. The forum doesn't give me any errors though.
  15. I hope we hear back too. I applied as a comparativist
  16. Did y'all get that email from them about financial aid last week?
  17. Yeah I mean the one today seems more legit - had more details. I think I'll wait it out the rest of the week for sure before calling, but if I see some more results posted and I don't hear anything then I might inquire.
  18. Spoke with some faculty there and they said it’ll probably be a smaller group this year bc of covid.
  19. I saw that too in my confirmation e-mail, although that seemed to be from the graduate school - so perhaps it depends on the program. I think the Poli Sci department has historically gotten back to applicants at the bitter end of January.... I do know that BU's PoliSci Dept was most likely getting a much smaller cohort of PhDs this year .... I have hope for us tho!
