  1. Yes - this information was provided by an NSERC program officer, who I reached out to last week. I heard back from him yesterday afternoon.
  2. Should be end of next week, or early the following week. Good luck!
  3. I’m in the ecology and evolution stream. I’ll be starting my PhD in the fall. I’ve been working for government as a wildlife biologist for the past 6 years (since finishing my masters), so have lot of practical experience. Have 2 first author publications, plus numerous technical reports from work. Terrible grades during my first 2 years of undergrad, but decent grades in my last 2 years. High GPA from my masters. Was involved in student governance during my masters. While I have decent experience, I don’t know that I sold myself as well as I could have in my application. I’m therefore not expecting to have much success this first round, especially since I was waitlisted for an OGS (thought I was a shoe-in for that one). Good luck to everyone. Hopefully we hear soon!
  4. LOL! I too have been thinking about where/how I can make improvements to my application for next year. Good luck to you! ☺️
  5. I thought the same - that it usually comes out mid to late-March, with last year being the exception due to Covid. I actually don't expect to receive an award as this is my first year applying and I've been away from academia for 6+ years. But I sure would like to know either way! Oh well, I guess it's back to the waiting game...
  6. Yes, this was in response to the PGS-D/CGS-D competition. I agree, it seems odd that they provide a timeline but don't necessarily stick to it. Perhaps they take pleasure in torturing grad students?
  7. Received this response from NSERC today: "Hello, All applicants will be e-mailed once the results have been finalized. Usually this happens mid to end of April." End of April?! Aye yai yai..
  8. As of today, my school (Carleton) is still saying that we 'should' know by the end of March but who really knows. I assume we would have received some sort of update from NSERC by now, if that were the case.
  9. Apparently once the tri-council awards have been announced there tends to be a lot of movement. Fingers crossed!
  10. I couldn’t find a thread started for this year’s OGS competition, so starting one now. Carleton released their results on Monday March 1st, and I was told that I was on the waitlist. I’m wondering if any one knows how many people are typically on the OGS waitlist at Carleton and what proportion of those waitlisted end up receiving an award?
  11. Reaching out to see if anyone on here knows how EDI considerations will be incorporated into the evaluation criteria/scoring? For example: 1) Will applications will be penalized for not incorporating sex, gender and diversity considerations into the research design, methods, analysis and interpretation, and/or dissemination of results?2) Will applications be scored/evaluated based on the quality of the applicant's explanation for not including diversity considerations into the proposed research design? Or is the content within this portion of the application not evaluated with scrutiny/given a specific score or weight? I noticed that it wasn't listed as a criteria in Appendix A: Selection criteria and indicators for scholarship applications of the Selection Committee Guide for Postgraduate Scholarships—Doctoral and Postdoctoral Fellowships Programs Thanks
