I also applied to UW-Madison, Caltech, and MIT, as well as Berkeley, UIUC, Pittsburgh, and UChicago. I've heard back from Madison, Berkeley, UIUC, and Pittsburgh, and it seems like Madison is mostly done since they have fully scheduled both their visit weekends. Berkeley gave a deadline of Feb 5 to register for their visit weekends so most acceptances should be sent out before then. Not sure where UIUC is, but for Pittsburgh I think it's still early for them.

I haven't heard a word from Caltech, MIT, or UChicago. I do figure that means I was rejected from Caltech (Pchem).

unfortunately no ? pretty bummed bc that was my top choice by far, but it's all good! feeling positive about the choices I have so far!!

I dont neccessarily think Caltech is done with admissions, dont feel too down or read into results pages too much!  I saw one person post for organic, and I havent seen anyone else post anything (Im suspecting a Troll). But Timothychem I think thats a great attutude, thats what Ive been thinking too! :)

Hi there! I applied to all of the same programs (organic) besides Rice. From following the results page, I think Caltech has finished their admissions process. I already heard back from Yale, Columbia, and UW-Madison. In the results section, a current Yale student said that the department will be sending a few more acceptances. I also saw on reddit that Columbia might be sending out a few more acceptances. I have no information on where UW-Madison is in their admissions process. I think Stanford has started to send some informal acceptances (based on the results page). No word from MIT.

were you interviewed/accepted into Caltech organic?

Same here, chemical biology focus instead though, I have yet to see any second interview offers since our interview days at the end of last week, does anyone know when the organic folks did their first interviews and then when they heard back?

My interview was 1/4, she told me I would hear at the earliest, 1/15, but im anticipating hearing back sometime this week. I know some people were interviewed the week of 1/11, which makes me think only second round people were interviewd again for 5 mins?? I have no idea tho TBH, and it doesnt really matter because it is out of our control. Bottom line- dont worry! If you are admitted or not it is likely for the best :)

Hey, I've been lurking for a while but reading about the Caltech interviews finally got me anxious enough to make an account lol. I haven't been contacted by them all. I wish if I were rejected they would just tell me already!!

I do feel lucky though because I already have 3 acceptances I'm excited about, just waiting to hear back from the remaining 4.

Im in a similar boat (I made an account to comment on the caltech status lol). Been accepted and rejected by a few schools. I havent heard back from Caltech either! Anxious but sorta calm because ive only seen one person from Organic say they got a second round interview..... Hoping to hear by the end of this week and whatever the outcome, Im going to grad school!

Caltech interviewed 27 inorganic applicants in the first round (10 min interviews).  They invited 18 back for a 4 minute Zoom call Thursday.  It was not specified as a second interview, just a follow-up from the original interview.

Hope this helps!  Nervous af for Thursday.  Anyone else invited back?

How do you know these stats? did they pass out an interview schedule?

  6. @yeetamus,

I thought we would hear back by friday too, but if I remeber correctly she said friday was the earliest possible day. I didnt get any email about a 4 min follow up interview, but im in organic not inorg so it may be different by department. Not sure tbh. I think we cant assume the worst from silence- they are prob still in the decision stages. Whatever happens, happens!! (Having a hard time taking my own advice LOL)
