  1. Not sure if anyone still checks this thread, but I just got a surprising, last-minute admittance. I was REJECTED from UCLA over a month ago. No waitlist, and I didn't even make it to the second round of interviews. But today, I opened my email this morning to an acceptance email from a department admin. Obviously I was shocked, and at first I suspected it was a phishing attempt lol. But nope, it's real and I'm waiting for funding info now. Anyway, just wanted to share this bizarre experience with you all... thanks everyone for your support these past several months, and best of luck to everyone applying in future cycles. @hyphenleigh I think Stanford TAPS admitted just four students this year, not sure about any int'l admits. But big congrats on Simon Fraser, that's a great program!! Wishing you the best
  2. It's been an honor weathering this application season with you all! Congrats to those of you who are starting school this year, and sending best wishes and love to everyone regardless. Did anyone email the schools that rejected them, asking for feedback on their application? Would love to know what you asked in your email, and what kind of advice you got back.
  3. just got my UCLA rejection. Thanks for reporting back @sadficus! That does seem exhausting, but it sounds like you did great!
  4. Just got officially rejected from Northwestern and Berkeley, ouch. Congrats to those doing virtual campus tours soon, let us know how it goes!
  5. Congratulations @ladymatre!! Have a great interview, we're rooting for you ❤️ @Boxedwine I basically agree with what @PSward13 has said– both of my interviews were short and sweet, asking basic questions like "Why are you interested in [this program]?" "What are your research interests?" "What is a performance you've seen recently?" Stanford also had that special question about creating a performance under a budget, and (true to the program's mission) they spent more time asking after my artistic practice, while UCLA was more interested in my analytical skills and asked more follow up questions about my research. Overall both programs' faculty were pretty friendly! Also a warning: I had a lot of professors on the Zoom call for Stanford so the video feed got kind of slow... I hope you guys all have access to strong wifi. I've heard a rumor that it helps to be on "Speaker View" rather than "Gallery View" so Zoom only has to process one big video and a few thumbnails, rather than a dozen medium-sized videos. @sadficus wow, thanks for the info and best of luck with your interview later this month. Don't worry too much about the numbers, I'm sure you had a really strong application and they'll be so lucky to have you in the cohort.
  6. @Lounmou9 I guess no news is good news then! Thanks for reaching out and reporting back, I really appreciate it.
  7. @Lounmou9 I haven't heard anything from Berkeley either... it's still somewhat early, so I've just been assuming that they'll give me an answer eventually. Let me know how they respond to your email though! Congrats to everyone with NU interviews!! Haven't heard anything from them yet, but I had an interview with Stanford last Friday.
  8. Congrats @ladymatre on your acceptance, that's such a great program ❤️ David Saltz is still there, right? And I didn't know that PhDs may not be allowed to defer! I don't actually have any information about that, I just assumed that some admittees from last application cycle might have wanted to wait a year... anyone know anything about the deferral situation? Totally agree ^ it's still very early, let's all hang tight
  9. @sadficus sounds like such a great resource!! This whole application process was honestly so expensive and inaccessible @ladymatre Welcome :) yup, I've heard from various programs that they're only accepting 2-3 students this year (opposed to 4-7 like usual). Not sure if that's affected by students who were accepted last year but chose to defer? @dancedancestudies Congrats on OSU, I hope you get more good news soon! The UCLA interview went well, but it was incredibly fast paced. It took exactly 15 minutes, and felt like a speedrun with professors firing off questions... all pretty overwhelming. Hope everyone's doing well!
  10. Also @sadficus, what does a grad prep program entail? Obviously too late for me this round haha, but I’m intrigued
  11. Hi guys, thought I’d pop in and play the waiting game with you all. I applied to UCLA, UC Berkeley, Stanford, and Northwestern, all (Theatre and) Performance Studies PhD programs. I have a Zoom interview with UCLA tomorrow ? if anyone’s at all interested, I can report back about my experience. Haven’t heard back from any other schools.... yikes
