  1. It’s been fun to watch so many artists receive good news, and humbling to find myself among those who didn’t. Could I ask a favor on behalf of those of us who will be trying again next year? If you have any insights about getting into particular programs (as opposed to general advice—this forum has been good about that already), please consider sharing it. We can use all the help we can get. Congratulations to all of you who will be starting your MFA adventures in the fall!
  2. Thank you for this. It looks like I'm heading into try-again-next-year territory, so I plan to heed your advice. I have to admit, though, I find the idea of approaching professors out of the blue intimidating. Do you have any tips on what to say in that first e-mail (I assume that's how you made your initial approach)? Also, I'm a bit confused about who to contact first. Are you advising we start with someone in the graduate school generally, rather than someone from whatever they call the school of art? Thanks again, and best of luck to you!
  3. Hope you don’t mind if I piggy-back here. Does UNCG rely on grad students to do much teaching at the undergrad level?
  4. Postings from past-year forums suggest that SAIC does not interview candidates for the low-res program, but does send out acceptance notifications for the low-res program early, sometimes by the first or second weeks of February. (Past performance is not a guarantee of future results) ?
  5. Especially eager to hear about any news from BU painting. Of course, I’ll share, too, if I’m lucky enough to get any!
  6. Am I imagining it, or is this Freakout strangely chill? Most years, by this time, people are starting to chime in with news of interview invites and even a few early acceptances, which of course makes everybody else even more anxious. Schools taking more time for some reason? Fewer applicants? Not that I'm nervous or anything...?
  7. Nerve racking, since I haven’t heard anything, but I appreciate the intel.
  8. Any action yet on early deadline programs like OSU, UGA, Tyler, U Chicago?
