  1. Congrats on Medill!! I have no clue about Columbia but Friday would be nice haha. I also thought they don't usually do interviews?
  2. I have not heard yet!!! it says march 12th on the site but I do hope we hear back towards the beginning of the week! ? good luck to you as well!
  3. hey everyone! hope you're all hanging in there. I'm still waiting to hear back from 3 schools and like a couple other people on here, I've only heard back from 1 so far! wishing everyone luck and hope everyone is ready for the week ahead! ?
  4. oh no.... I'm not ready for this
  5. Also haven't heard from Berkeley yet.. I want to believe they're rolling out acceptances slowly... hopefully! Crossing my fingers for us both and congrats to those that got in so far!!
  6. Right there with you all! Nervous as can be!!!! Hope decisions come out soon!!
  7. I saw an international student who applied to their journalism program say they got in through an email. This was posted on the gradadmissions subreddit.
  8. That one Hunter College interview post on the results page is taunting me..... Did anyone else here hear from Hunter?
  9. Yeah, to echo what everyone else has been saying, I feel like the Brown rejection posts are most likely trolls? I applied to Brown for poetry and haven't heard back with a rejection or anything. But we'll see I guess... edit: also yay!!! we hit 100 pages!!!
  10. Oh! Very cool and ah, I'm hoping they come out soon...I can't take the waiting. Thank you so much and congratulations once again!
  11. CONGRATS!!!! I applied there too and am waiting anxiously to hear back. Did you apply for poetry?
  12. Ahhh and so it begins..... Wishing everyone a happy March filled with acceptances! Congrats @Chrisehrm and @doe123!!!
  13. I think the fact that you have that experience is so great because reporting takes a lot out of a person and makes you so much stronger in a way. I’m glad you’re finally pursuing your passion!! ? crossing my fingers that I end up getting in somewhere out of the two paths I chose and can finally allow myself to see what I can accomplish with my writing.
  14. That’s so cool! A lot of people shift gears and I don’t blame them but journalism was my first priority/choice in terms of what I wanted to study in grad school. I also really love writing— I’m sure you know that the two go hand in hand since you were in the industry. I applied to NYU, Northwestern, Columbia, CUNY, and my alma mater, UC Berkeley! ? they all respond in March though so haven’t heard back yet.
  15. I applied for the poetry track! I’m doing alright, I applied to 10 schools total but only 4 of those were for MFA programs, the rest were journalism programs. I kind of applied as a spur of the moment thing but was really hoping I might have a chance. I guess we’ll see how the rest plays out! Hoping you hear back positive news!!!
  16. My first MFA decision is out and....... it’s a rejection ? while I’m obviously sad, I think remaining optimistic is important. anyways good luck to other applicants!
  17. They canceled the writing test this year, I messaged admissions about something else and they mentioned that they're not doing it! Just wanted to update incase anyone was curious.
  18. CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! omg this is exciting!!! Also -- if there is anyone on Draft who sees anything in regards to the University of San Francisco or Hunter College please let me know (although I will be obsessively checking GradCafe of course)
  19. I have not! Adding it to my list
  20. Ой да! Привет :) Приятно познакомиться!
  21. Ohhhh, interesting... hmn. I appreciate your response, I like to see other people's viewpoints so it's interesting to see what others think! Oh, yeah I didn't think you were thinking badly! I'm going to read that Vice article because just that excerpt alone is really funny. I must be that person because I definitely have his copies on my bookshelf front and center.... haha.
  22. hi! just wondering if anyone can provide more info on the stereotypical "Bukowski mfa bro"? Bukowski is one of my favorite authors and it's interesting to see people mention those who read him as pretentious? just wanted to see more about that and why he falls into the stereotype? I guess I just honestly I haven't really heard that from anyone. I mostly hear about 'infinite jest' and others shitting on people who love it. I guess it's all really dumb in a way, but, now I'm wondering if people view me negatively when I mention my love for Bukowski. also I love Nikolai Gogol! I'm a Russian speaker myself so I find Russian authors to be extraordinary and pretty dark to be honest (which I like). Reading Gogol's and Tolstoy and Dostovesky's works in Russian is particularly meaningful and the English translation doesn't really hold up as much but those works are remarkable for sure in any language. anyways! just my two cents! hope everyone is hanging in there.
  23. I applied to Columbia and NYU as well except I applied for the MS program for Columbia not MA but I am just as clueless as you when it comes to interviews. It looks like some people already got some response and others didn't. I completed my writing test but no clue what to expect in terms of interviews. Hoping we all hear back soon! Thank you for sharing!! Congrats on USC's program!
  24. I think Columbia would be nice if I could get a scholarship but I'm not really sure yet either! NYU is great too. I'd just be grateful for any acceptance and am scared with all of the applications.
